:pWas...
Sunday 6th of June 2004. Round 11.
Fev kicked 7 against the crows. Kicking the sealer from the boundary 50m out.:thumbsu:
The Hawks got smashed by Essendon in the infamous "line in the sand" Match.:thumbsu:
St.Kilda lost their first game for the season against Sydney.:thumbsu:

Melbourne trailed by 12 points at three quarter time after leading by 14 at half time.

Remarkably...
Peter Vardy not only played for Melbourne...
but infact kicked four final quarter goals against Freo:eek:

To help...
Melbourne kick 6.7 43 to Fremantles 0.0 00
To win by 31 points in a quarter of football where there was more rain in 20 mins than there was for the past week.

Melbourne were 8-3:rolleyes:

I was a hell of a lot younger than i am now.

And they say a weeks a long time in football.:D

I hope your trip down memory lane was safe now come back down to reality

We are at the 15th of July 2010
Melbourne has 5 wins 1 draw and 9 losses
Playing Fremantle whom are in the top four.

i was at that game with my dad + brother

Havent felt rain like that in any footy match ive been too
have felt is overseas however

It was amazing to see the players trying to play as we couldnt see the other side of the field

ALthough i would like to mention freo supporters are nothing like the eagles supporters when it comes to leaving early after looking like a loss cause i have to say freo ppl are the best at sticking it out (being at the bottom of a ladder for most of ur history helps u deal with losing)

But that game we sat in the rain and i sware we were the only 3 ppl in 3 blocks of seats 3!!
that was as the siren went

was pretty depressing but we still laugh about it now

anyone rembr the game at subi were the wiz beat u in the rain after the siren?

Yer should do. But i didn't really see it. I was actually at the Collingwood vs Brisbane game at Colonial stadium as it was back then. Pies one by 3 points i think. I remember tuning in on the radio after the game and hearing that ex- melbourne player Jeff the wizz Farmer kicked a goal after the siren to win,
I tell you what though. It was soft. I think it was neita who pushed him in the back. Until this day i still ask myself why Neita was in the backline in the first place.

Thanks for the reminder.
Note.. Vardy kicked for 4, but not all in the last quarter. Got 2 in about a minute thou... Gun player. Unbeliverble one from the boundary in pouring rain!

clearly was a perfect matchup for farmer

I remember this game pretty well...i was trying to watch and study for a year 12 mid year exam (i had the next day) the studying part didnt really happen, but a great win none the less!

Also the debut of one Brock Mclean!

Oh I didn't know that. There you go. I remember studying to it was a twilight but jsut couldn't pay attention.

So was I as a matter of fact. What a coincidence! Went to that match with a Collingwood friend, and we were listening to the radio on the way out of the car park and remember hearing that Farmer had won a free kick in the last second. Of course he had to kick the goal.

i flew over to perth for the game.

brock mclean came in as a late change.
his first kick was to neitz in the forward line but it went over the top and went through for a goal.

never seen so much rain in my entire life.

davey got knocked out cold, and after the game said he didn't remember the rain.

peter vardy turned it on to be man of the match.

haha.
That game should have a thread to itself. Probably the glitchiest thing i've ever played. But god, I <3'd it

Hunt down Kevin Sheedy Premiership Coach. Most baffling thing ever, much like the man himself.

My favourite was Finals Fever on the PC in the mid 90's. Released by some company who had their worldwide headquarters in Glen Iris it played tinny xylophone versions of the theme songs, had a bug which allowed you to swap James Hird to Melbourne and at the end of 22 rounds despite being called Finals Fever ended without any finals. So much time when I should have been doing homework (*spit*) wasted putting Ivan Bartul at FF and watching him go boont.

I remember both those games. The rain was severe but we sat through it watching us have a rare win at subi.

Also remember the Wiz taking a massive dive, and Neitz was the offender in the pocket.
Must of been the first season or so the Wiz had moved back across the Nullabor.

My favourite Subi memory is the game against West Coast, round 22 2000 I think. We won 177 to 100. Woewodin best on, 3 votes and it won him the Brownlow. Stephen Powell also killed it, I was a massive fan of his while he was at Melbourne.

Haha a decent AFL vid game is a bit like the holy grail. Elusive, but if someone got it right it would be a massive seller. Can't be too far away, surely

And there is no way he was even in our best ten players that day. Purely criminal getting votes, but great.

I remember this game. Was actually at the Carlton Richmond game at the MCG with family but listened on the radio. If memory serves me correct, Brent Grgic ran into an open goal and kicked the ball on the roof of Subiaco.

And without wanting to split hairs, Woewodin got 2 votes in that game to get him the Brownlow. I distinctly remember that Brownlow night, Woey was the equal leader on 22 votes before the game...
Wayne Jackson:
Melbourne... S. (silence) ...Powell (aaaaaaaaaawww) 1 vote.
Melbourne... S. (silence) ...Woewodin (crowd going nuts) 2 votes.
Melbourne A. Yze 3 votes.

That 3 votes put Yze upto equal 12th place in the medal.
Other interesting facts from that count include...
- Michael O'Loughlin's equal 7th placing
- Tony Liberatore's equal 12th place, ten years after winning the award.
- Troy Cook polling more votes than Craig Bradley, Jeff White, Mark Riccuito and Nigel Lappin.
