One of the most memorable losses (there's plenty) was the first final I went to - the 1980 Pre-lim, when we lost by 4 points to Collingwood. I loathed the Pies back then even more so than today - and seeing guys like Peter Moore, Daicos, Billy Picken and Wearmouth celebrate after the win was gut wrenching. At least the close, hard game set them up for the following week's smashing in the GF.

I was there too.
Who was the prick of a collingwood ruckman that pretended his leg was shot when he was awarded a free on the boundary so that a decent goal kicker (ronnie?) could take the shot.

As soon as the goal was kicked, the ruckman (manson?) stood up and ran back to the middle laughing and rubbing Geelong players heads.

I was gutted.

One that springs to mind is West Coast in 06 at KP. We were still a chance for a reasonable year at this stage. I remember Cats up by 56 mid way thru the 3rd, then never looked like scoring again. Although i was shattered at the time, it was another game that helped shape the team we have today.

Ones that spring to mind are

1. Vs Power in 2001 at home - although we got rolled by about 7 goals in the end, at one stage we were 80+ points down. We had about 3 players reported as we went the man all day.

2. Freo in 2005 at home - we were 7 and 3 - they had us off the bit from the start and it didn't get any better

3. Round 20 vs Dees at home - about 7 goals up during the 2nd quarter, the Dees clawed their way back through Robbo kicking 7 goals on Max Rooke. Egan had a shot after the siren that missed by about a metre (N Ablett's debut).

4. vs Richmond at home in 2006 - terrible game and I copped 2 speeding tickets at the Little River speed camera site going down and coming home.
