I'm on the hunt for a leather jacket. I want it to be unique, cool and with a bit of a rockstar feel about it.

Any ideas where to look for one in and around the city??

I've been to Chaddy and didn't find much, I'm pretty keen on steering clear of the General Pants, Edge type of shops. I don't really want a big name brand and a jacket that I might see someone else wearing when I'm out and about.

I'd prob be looking to spend $450-500 max.

Cheers for the help.

Go to the shops at the Vic Market. I got one from there that has lasted me ten years

Leather Jackets seem to be the 'in' thing now. The missus just went out and bought one for $400! i couldn't belive it, the following weekend i tagged along to her friends house where there were about 8 girls and 7/8 of them were all wearing different style leather jackets, couldn't believe it.

May have to get one myself ;)

Mars Leather in Elizabeth St near the bike shops also theres a leather shop opposite the high rise commision flats in Collingwood on Hoddle St.

I got my last one at Cash Converters, after my previous old faithful got stolen.
Black bikie/rocker style same as I had only better. It cost me $80, and the cleaning cost more than that, but the upside was it would have taken years to wear a new one in, and new leather jackets can look pretty stiff and, well, too new (therefore uncool).

What's uncool is buying a leather jacket, or anything, from cash converters.

So it's the "coolness" of the shop that's the most important factor for you, rather than the item you're buying. Good luck with that.

.

got a theory with leather jackets.
You've already got to be cool to wear one, if you're not already cool don't ever worry about looking for one.

I was wearing a leather jacket pretty frequently last year during Winter, and was seemingly the only one doing so, mainly because it was my only warm jacket that wasn't too 'casual' looking. Got a few compliments on it as well, even from door staff at venues. Seems like I was somehow ahead of the curve without even knowing it :p

I was planning on shelving it this year and going for a different look during Winter, but I might just get it out again :D

Unless you wear them when riding a motorbike OR your parents named you Arthur Fonzarelli, there is absolutely no excuse for wearing leather jackets.

Rivers? Geez man, that's pretty povo. Still, better than leather I guess.

And to the freo bloke, no I dont wear cardigans but if I had to pick between a cardigan and leather jacket... well, i think the choice is pretty obvious...

"Theories you and your mates have developed" thread :thumbsu:

But yeah, I don't agree. I think you just have to have a "look to wear a leather jacket, doesn't mean you're cool but you have the ability to look cool. Y'know?

I got this jacket while I was in the US, not leather but quite a glossy material and I got many a compliment on it. The thing is, if I wore it here I don't know if it'd be quite as popular. Not saying no one here would like it, but it was very "in" in the US.
