Just got a part time job at WHSmith over here in Cardiff, but I have two interviews this friday for Setanta and also Vodafone, which pay better and are full time (which is what im after). I took the job cos I really really needed some money, been there 2 days so far.

My mate works for Setanta so im pretty much assured that job (nothing special, call centre stuff) so im wondering how I can tell WHSmith that im leaving after a very short period, they want a weeks notice in the contract, but I could just say something happened and had to go home?

Any advice of people in similar positions would be appreciated!

Put it down to experience but just go in then go out for lunch or morning tea and don't come back. I've always wanted to do that as I've worked in places where other people have fronted in the morning and by lunch time GORN!! I just don't show.

You're going to lose only 2 days pay or whatever. Beats going thru the stress of giving notice and working it out - not worth it and I should know as something similar happened to me when I was 16 (eek) and my mum said, don't go but miss goody two shoes (then) had to go in and go through all the hoopla of quitting. Wish i hadn't now.
