Not the worst thing for Leeds, the premium
Might have been too much too soon.

A bit of tweaking in the summer, and a run at promotion next season and you'll be in a much better chance of not dropping straight down at the first attempt.

Probably would've ended up looking like Blackpool. A lot of nice, attacking football but leaking sooooo many goals. Defence needs tightening up if we want a serious run at it. So happy to see Paddy K on the field last night. :thumbsu:

I think it was a fantastic season really, not too disappointed to finish 7th. In a way though the team avoided the heartbreak of another probable playoff loss and can consolidate for a serious push next season.

I liked the way Leeds played this season, despite only being able to watch a handful of games. Hopefully more of the same next season with a more solid defence!

Have we actually got a squad left ?

Gutted by so many depatures, I think I'll slit my wrist if we lose Gradel and Snoddy.. Ken Bates can get *******.

Shithouse off-season so far. Johnson, Kilkenny, Schmeichel, Higgs, Naylor gone already.

Grella and Bessone are transfer listed. Whilst Paynter, Gradel, Snodgrass and Kisnorbo have been linked with moves away.

And we've only managed to sign a new keeper.

Are we even slightly dreaming of the Premiership?

According to the last set of accounts LUFC's playing squad was valued at £6.67 million http://www.thesquareball.net/leeds-...rs-fools-tsb-analyses-leeds-uniteds-accounts/

The cost of the current East Stand re-development is £7 million according to Ken http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20110613/east-stand-frontage-exposed_2247585_2375587

Ken has the summer to prove me wrong but it seems clear to me at least that Ken is focused on investing in infrastructure projects.Grayson may be forced to work magic with the funds he has available.

Just booked for the pre season game up at Motherwell, fingers crossed we sign some talent before the 16th of July.

Michael Brown signs on for a year with an option for another. Even though he's 34, I think he'll be a good addition. Good player with a bit of a nasty streak. Ideal for a midfield that was a little lightweight at times last season.

Leeds managed to beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park yesterday. Came back from 1-0, goals from Nunez and Bruce.

Still recovering from a combination of Haggis Pakoras and Tequila slush puppies.

I assume the possble return from Alan Smith and Woody, nothing more than off season twaddle?

Need to sign something. Looking mid table with a push towards playoffs.

Another season of not being where we belong.

This thread needs a bumping, 2 days out from our first game.

Not only is the game against Southampton televised, but so too is our Carling Cup game against Bradford.

Poor Start.
To say the least. McCormack, O'Brien, Brown, Gradel all poor. I hope we ring the changes for the Bradford game.

Lonergan
Bromby Bruce Kisnorbo O'Dea
Sam Clayton Howson Nunez
Paynter Grella

Well, I'll take it. It was a little worrying at times, but a win is a win and after the disappointment of the weekend, it was important to bounce back.

Positives:

Adam Clayton. Will be a player. Clear M.O.M.

Ross McCormack. Amazing what the goal did for him, confidence wise. Looked a totally different player after scoring.

Negatives:

The defence. Still a massive concern. O'Brien, while not fit, looks off the pace. Paddy will need a lot more time. Ben Parker, like Paddy, will need more time. I feel for Andy Lonergan with that lot in front of him at the moment!

Still, it was never going to be easy, and 6 Championship sides were knocked out, so looking at the bigger picture, maybe it wasn't so bad.

Hopefully that is the last we see of O'Brien for a while. Bruce and Bromby are better options, and I didn't mind the look of Tom Lees at the back either. I'd like to see him eventually take Connolly's spot.

I thought Nunez and Sam were sensational filling in for Gradel and Snodgrass on the wings. Didn't miss those guys at all. Brown was much improved too :thumbsu:

Bring on Middlesboring.

Irishman Andy Keogh (from wolves) is with us untill Jan

i think the three points is a must against hull

Just about. A loss would almost wreck it. Frankly, I'd take a point, just to get us off the mark. Would like Becchio and Somma back asap please.

Lonergan seems to be doing a decent job so far, given what he has in front of him. Agree with you yotr in that O'Brien doesn't look sharp at the moment - would prefer Kisnorbo and Bruce. Would like to see Watt get a little more game time as well.

Keogh will be more than handy.

Ken seems to have pissed a few people off with his Leeds United Vs Hull City Programme notes. In terms of the club chairman / Leeds United supporters trust the gloves now seem very much to be off.

In Tuesday's programme he:
  • Labels demonstrating Leeds fans "morons"
  • Attacks the Leeds United Supporters trust in general along with it's current and former Chairman.
  • Upset the Chinese community in Leeds.
  • Details his poverty stricken and some what unconventional family life in London.
  • Compares running LUFC to sexual intercourse.

Here's the Leeds United supporters Trust's response to Ken's comments:

The Leeds United Supporters Trust has had a number

of requests for a response to Ken Bates' programme

notes for the the Hull City game.

We do not want to get into personal battles with Mr Bates or point

out the numerous glaring inaccuracies in his words about the

Chairman of the Trust. We will however respond to some of the

other statements in his notes.
"I'm unimpressed by the demonstrations of a few

morons on Saturday"

First of all we would like to point out that for the benefit of

anyone not present at the demonstration, the number of people

demonstrating on Saturday was significantly more then "a few".

In addition to this we do not feel it is acceptable to refer to

Leeds United fans as "morons" in the same way it is not

acceptable to refer to Leeds United fans as "dissidents" and

"sickpots". We also wish to respond to Mr Bates' comments

about the news that the Chinese Olympic Team will be

stationed in Leeds in the lead up to the Olympic games next year:

"...What a waste of money and all Leeds will see is

increased sales of sweet and sour pork next

summer."
We would like to place on record that one of the Leeds United

Supporters Trust's stated aims is to work with and help the

Leeds community. We therefore would like to state that do not

share Mr Bates views about the recent news, rather we hope,

that as Leeds City Council says, this brings prosperity and

benefit to the Leeds community.
"I saved your club in 2005 and 2007

when nobody else would"

The Leeds United Supporters Trust is very keen to establish

exactly what it is that Ken Bates 'saved' the club from.

We would welcome clarification from Mr Bates on what he

DID save us from?
Our efforts to establish clear understanding have produced

a list of the things that we KNOW we haven't been saved from

by Mr Bates.

We are left to assume that whatever is left must be what he

saved us from but confirmation would be greatly appreciated

by our Trust members and the clubs wider fanbase.

Our list (so far)

Ken Bates did not save us from dropping to the lowest point

in the League in the entire history of the club.

Ken Bates did not save us from administration and he didn't

save us from not being able to obtain a CVA.

Ken Bates did not save us from being kicked out of the

Football Association.

Ken Bates did not save us from having to buy our way back

into the Football League by means of a 15 point negotiated

deduction. Was this the biggest deduction in history that we

were not saved from?

Ken Bates did not save us from not owning Elland Road.

Ken Bates did not save us from not owning Thorp Arch.

Ken Bates did not save us from selling some of our most promising

players without any obvious investment of the proceeds into the

playing squad.

Ken Bates did not save us from MPs calling for investigations into

the financial dealings at our club.

Ken Bates did not save us from falling out with the BBC,

newspapers, various other football reporters and commentators.

Ken Bates did not save us from making legal threats against

supporters groups who used the name of the club.

Ken Bates did not save us from a prolonged period

outside of the Premiership.

Ken Bates did not save us from years of not knowing

who owned the club.

So what is left ? What were we saved from (twice) ?

I suspect that this is just the opening round.

The day we see the back of Bates will almost be as sweet as the day we return to the Premiership. Unfortunately, it seems the former will be required before the latter is possible.
