The multi-premiership winning coach is a busy man leading The Most Successful Club of the 21st Century, so when word got out that the umps requested his presence he gracefully granted them an audience on the proviso they came down to Geelong headquarters to visit. In case you haven't worked it out yet, this is Geelong's league - the protagonist - your club is merely an obstacle to be overcome in our legendary tale.

Mad? Upset? Crying? Not our problem.

"B-b-b-but when we want to meet with the umps we have to go to them..."

Not. Our. Problem.

The AFL's EGM of Football, Laura Kane, spoke with the Cats over the weekend and said the League's new head of officiating Stephen McBurney and head umpiring coach Michael Jennings drove to Geelong on Monday to meet with Scott in person and discuss his concerns.

I assume the meeting was so Joel Selwood could discretely give his own whistle back?

Jokes aside Chris Scott is plainly the best current coach, with a record of sustained success that compares favourably with the absolute best.

The reason this isn’t more generally acknowledged is his utterly shit personality. Whinging about umps after the game when you’ve been jumped by an inferior side on your home deck is just poor sportsmanship. Absolutely cringeworthy performance from the best in the business (at coaching and sooking).

That, and 1 flag in 12 years

TBF, by GeeLOL standards, 1 in 12 is considered good

In all seriousness though I actually commend people for going out of their way and admitting they don't understand something and taking steps to educate themselves.

So in this case kudos to the umpires for volunteering to have the rules of the game explained to them by C. Scott.
