Just saw it then and nothing in it at all. If he does get rubbed out then maybe Lonergan should as well for his "hit" on Stanley

Can JZ have the last four weeks of his career back then? And his points and 50 per cent loading wiped?

Yeah sure, just like Lewis had his priors wiped after Monfries admitted to diving. I think not.

I'm completely with The Sheik here, nothing in this contest at all. It's footy, get over it and move on before we start wearing bibs and be restricted in which zones we are allowed to go into.

Hayes contact was as much the player turning into him, on field whistle call nothing more needed. The difference which you quoted as a blurred line was a clear demonstration of intent.

If Cotchin hadn't jumped, the incidents would've looked very similar. I think the Hayes one is somewhere between Scott Thompson's (on Johnson), and Cotchin's with regard to how much time they had to react to an imminent collision. Will be interesting to see where the MRP thinks the line is.

Definitely a bit late, and Hayes could have avoided heavy contact if he had chosen to. However, based on MRP's decision to not even cite Simpkin and Kosi for their far worse head high hits against the Pies 2 weeks ago, there is no way Hayes will go.

That's the thing. Who would know. The mrp have weaseled their way into a position where, according to their own interpretation of the rules, they will be correct in giving Lenny 3 and correct in getting him off Scott free.

The mrp is a joke and soon you will all feel like north supporters felt with Ziebell.

Hayes stayed on the ground rather than jump - the key difference between this incident and ziebell's.

I don't think hayes should go - what other choice did he have? he had no time to pull out. Was a good courageous mark by Hunt, nothing more.

Certainly nothing in it.

However: nothing in the Selwood push, and not much in the Ziebell bump. Spin the wheel, but everyone likes Hayes so he should be ok.

Now, run off and rattle some cans at your local shopping centre to keep your club afloat ..... there's a good chap !!

Paid the AFL back from when they bailed you out when you went bankrupt?

The reason Ziebell jumped is the ball was far higher in the air.

The illegal late hit was a straight-forward 50-metre penalty.
The problem Hayes faces is the oft-stated AFL and MRP principle that if your illegal act results (intentionally or otherwise) in a head injury (such as Hunt's badly broken nose), then you bear the consequences.
In Hayes' favour is the fact that this "principle" has proved very flexible, especially in the case of players such as potential Brownlow Medallists and reputed "good guys".

WHAT ??????????????????

You're on drugs ................... there can't be any other rational explanation.
Get angry.

That was just off what I saw last night.

Vision today might tell me that the elbow wasn't as prominent as I thought.

Thing is, he had to brace himself for the collision, if had of tried to do anything else he risked injury to himself.

I am actually starting to question how many of the posters in this thread have actually played the game ?? Because if they have, then they would certainly understand the situation far more clearly instead of jumping to the conclusion that there was some malice.

Jack Ziebell.

You still can't just jump straight into the man as Ziebell did. There have been plenty of similar cases of charging and rough conduct when the ball has been in the air (I.e a marking contest). If the defense "but the ball was higher in the air" meant anything then those cases would be thrown out.

Ziebell was careless and deserved a week for his hit - four was extreme but he has a poor record so that is the way the system works.

If you had played the game, you would know that Lenny knew from a long way out he wasn't getting to the drop of that footy. Had plenty of time to ease off, decided not to and went in with the shoulder.

I agree with your sentiments, and I don't like to see anyone suspended for much short of decapitation, but going by the rules as they stand now, he's broken a blokes nose when he didn't have to. Will go.
