Just getting the word from the street, I work for a Apple reseller and we had huge lines on friday (thank god I wasn't there).

I was going to install it monday, didn't have time and was sick yesterday, installed it today and gotta say I love it.

One thing is missing, Address book no longer has bluetooth so you can't send text msg's via your mac which sucks.
Spaces is awesome, haven't got around to using TM, ichat seems more like AIM (which is good for me with the other stores now sorted) & it seems faster.

Anyone else have it running? whats your thoughts and everything you like/don't like about it?

Haven't got Leopard yet, but I do have a nice shiny new 3ghz Quad Core Mac Pro now so I'll be sure to try it out when I get a chance. :D :D (just waiting to hear about people running Logic 8 under Leopard first before I jump on)

Man, I've never EVER had a computer work so well as the new Mac. I mean, everything JUST WORKS. (and ****ing well flies along as well!)

My startup time seems to be slower but its nice I suppose. Don't really notice anything too different

I never install brand new operating systems.

Give it a couple of months, they'll sort out any bugs and then I'll enjoy it in all it's fullness.

mac people still got there head in the sand about viruses and spyware, open your eyes iphone has been hacked and had viruses,
The iPhone for one isn't a computer, its a phone and two isn't able to be bought in Australia.

I've been running a mac at work since I started working for a appple reseller, so far in 2 years I haven't had a virus or any sort of spyware, I've never ran any software to look for it and I've neve worried about it.
People that have the iPhone in Australia have hacked ones, meaning they are not running the software/firmware they shipped with and can get all sorts of things.

Up to you, I love using my computers without having to worry about all that crap, if you want to thats up to you.

Hey MightyMick! Long time no see.

You still working at Harvey Norman or wherever it was you worked?

Man, you guys know so much about computers. I'll always go to you for computer advice. I mean, after composing music professionally for multi-million dollar international projects for over 12 years now, who else is going to be able to tell me about which computer I should use?

I'd be lost without people like you!

Now that you've informed me that the iPhone has a virus, I think I'm gonna sell my new Mac Pro that runs my software of choice (Logic 8) perfectly and move to PC. I mean, a virus on the iPhone? Man.... I just can't have that.

Can you suggest a good PC for me? I'll also need to jump into an entirely new DAW program too..... can you also suggest one of those for me? Preferably one that has MIDI-features as in-depth as Logic 8. (I didn't think that one existed, but if anyone would know, it would be you!) I'll also need to get PC versions of the countless plugins I've bought and constantly updated for my crappy Mac over the years too. Oh, and I just realised the audio interface I use is Mac only as well.... so you'll need to point me in the direction of a good PC interface too.

Oh, and my sample libraries! They're all in EXS24 format! EXS24 is Logic's sampler (as I'm sure you would know) so it's Logic/Mac only. Damn it. I'll need to convert over 3 terrabytes of samples into a different format.... although which format? I don't have a PC soft-sampler either of course. Can you suggest one for me please? As well as a good conversion program too.... the one I have is Mac-only.

Thanks for the heads up mate. Much appreciated. Even though my Mac runs absolutely perfectly and I've never had a computer work so well and so fast in my life, and my music has never sounded better thanks to that and the new interface I just bought, and I'm also making more money from it now than I have ever been making in my life, there's just no way I'm gonna stick with Macs now that I know the iPhone has a virus!

Gold

How good is Logic studio?
Dropped $800 and you now get soundtrack plus some other great software.

PC users will never understand, gotta say the looks on peoples faces when you start one up, show them how easy it is to make a song in GB export it to itunes and put it on their ipod.
Theres a reason why Mac has grown in the last 18 months.

Yeah, tell me about it!

The amount of people walking down the street carrying big-ass $10,000 Mac Pro tower fashion accessories is just incredible!

the_fresh - Logic Studio is great! They've really just made the workflow a lot smoother. I'm very happy with it.

What a shame they don't make it for PC.... :p :D

Not too sure who the hell is installing Vista, in fact the bootcamp installs that we are doing are installing XP to run Autocad and thats it.
Some people like having both OS's but once they start using Mac OSX the never use windows.
The new upgrade CTO options on the Macbook pro takes the laptop to new power levels, 2.66 c2d 200gb 7200 drives and will work.
10.5 is a good OS as it is, is getting better and I've had no issues so far, did install Vista and had issue after issue.

The funny thing is Vista is based on the Mac OS even Gates has said that in every keynote on Vista.

i dont doubt macs are good pcs, and we dont stock them so its not that i dont want to sell them.

but home users are buying macs and then not wanting to buy mac version software is to expensive or all there old files from accounting programs and such can not be read. if there is an easier solution to installing xp please let me know as i am open minded and dont mind learning about it to help people who have queries.

im not against macs, you just cant teach an old dog new operating systems.

i did use the old apple IIe at high school :)
but had an amiga at home.

i am using vista home premium at the moment and dont have issues and i can get all the software i need. its usually the user who lacks the knowledge.

mac people still got there head in the sand about viruses and spyware, open your eyes iphone has been hacked and had viruses,

10 years as a full time Mac user in a professional, multi-workstation, internet connected environment and have never experienced any form of virus/worm/trojan or any other malicious bug.

10 years. 100% equipment productivity.

You can bemoan the mac-user attitude all you like, this is real world experience. Do you know why mac users are so enthusiastic about their equipment? It's that good.

I would love to have a MAC they are much better than ibms in every way

BUT

i cant use my programs without alot of ****ing about and piss farting around so i use My Pentium and still run XP cause after a month of vista it shit me.

I agree mac are better but to use all the cad programs i need and simulators i sadly have to use windows based computers

I have nothing against MACs but they barely run PC games unless you do the duel boot thing so I'll stick with XP even if it has a tonne of viruses. I've had nothing worse than what a virus scanner can fix.

That's the one thing I can't seem to find on a mac. - A good 3D program. I really want to get good at 3D Stdio Max, but I'm sick to death of using XP. XP has an annoying habit of restarting itself everytime there's new updates (that I didn't authorise). And because I'm using bootcamp it'll reset back to OSX. So I'm working on PC, get up to take a piss, come back, and it's back to OSX. Annoying!

I just stick to Mac now. It has everything I need:
Adobe CS3 for the basics multimedia stuff.
Logic and Reason for music creation.
Final Cut Pro and iDVD for video creation.
And some cool stuff like MacTheRipper

But a 3D program would be nice...

2 that spring to mind are Maya, and Bryce.
