What a ****ing disgraceful performance that was.

Same old Bulldogs, different year, different finals series. Rabbits in the ****ing spotlight, thats all we were today.

Where to start with today? That 1st quarter was a disgraceful, timid, downright shithouse display of footballing ineptitude.

Where was the pressure? Where was the hunger? All week long we had heard about how prepared we were, we had learnt from the Geelong final last year, we were in form and our confidence was sky high.

If you had of told me it was Richmond or Melbourne disguised in our jumpers in that first quarter I would have believed you.

Hargrave - FFS what happened to you today? Looked like he was shaking and wanted to go and hide in the corner every time he touched the thing.

Murph - I cannot recall a worse game. Every thing you touched went to shit.

Hill - ****ing frontrunner of the highest order, and possibly the laziest footballer I have ever seen.

Gia - words fail me. Dreadful, awful, horrible, pathetic.

Johnson - did he even touch the thing in the first half? Poor effort.

Griffen - What the **** has happened to him? This guy is one of the most naturally gifted players I have seen. Absolutely **** all awareness today and just about worst on ground, which is saying something given our long long of mediocrity today

Cooney - how about acting like a Brownlow Medallist and actually putting in 100% for the whole ****ing game, instead of drifting along like the ****ing feather in Forrest Gump

Higgins - cod ordinary, didn't stand up when we needed him to.

Those who can hold their head high - Ward, Gilbee, Morris, Eagleton. The rest of them can hang their heads in shame.

I am absolutely fed up with 'good efforts', and today wasn't even that.

I don't even care that we came within 14 points. We deserved to lose by a lot more - stuff how many shots we had in the last quarter, they had just as many chances to blow us apart when they were on top and we were crapping ourselves. We were just dead lucky that they didnt.

Same old Bulldogs, different ****ing year. I await with keen anticipation our inevitable capitulation against Carlton next week, or failing that trudging out of the prelim against St Kilda/Pies in 2 weeks time after another 'good effort' and saying for the 30th year running 'Next year, always next year :) '

FFS Bulldogs, lift your ****ing game.

You know, I don't really feel angry. Just so bitterly dissappointed. Its just the feeling of deja vu and the shattering of hope. I felt the exact same last time when we lost to Hawthorn.

I am not going to spray players. It serves no purpose and isn't in my nature. But just to say that as a whole we had a golden opportunity and we blew it. And that is so dissappointing. I feel numb with dissappointment at the moment. :(

can't even be bothered with this stupid forum any more. just continually gets my hopes up only to be shattered again and again.

the players will bounce back and I will turn up next week but reality is we a probably not good enough - simple as that.

Exactly how I feel, except I was extremly angry after the Hawthorn final last year. We blew a golden opportunity today, we gave them a big start, played poorly and still had the chance to win the game, we just could not take our opportunities. I am shattered because I can see this side is good enough to win the flag, but for whatever reason just will not take the game by the scruff of the neck and shake the living shit out of it when they get the chance.

there were a lot of ordinary performances today. but the three that have me livid are:

1) Hill - pathetic defensive pressure. I can think of 3 goals that Geelong scored (and there could have been more) that came directly from a Hill tackle "attempt" being broken. And there were at least two times when he tried to mark behind someone taller than him when the best option was clearly to punch.

2) Mitch Hahn - you want to know why Geelong backs were constantly running free? I did. I kept on looking for the Dogs forwards who were sitting around off the pace while it was happening. Pretty much every time Hahn was one of them. I bet Rocket gets right into him this week.

3) Johnno - stage-itis came back in a big way today. i was pleased to see he'd mostly lost it recently. But some massive playing for free kicks today. And every single time he staged, he stopped dead while appealing for the free, effectively giving up the contest. No one could ever question Johnno's heart or commitment. But that drove me absolutely bonkers.

The ****ing annoying thing is that we will win next week well, and lose the next week and yep, that raps up yet another go-nowhere season!

Mentally soft is what we are. Absolutely mentally soft.

edit: my spelling sucks after a loss

You blokes need to come out and play like bulldogs, get some bloody mongrel in you. The thing which summed up the day was Hill (I think it was) pulling out of the contest with Mooney. Pull your hair out sort of stuff.

Yeah I lost a little bit of respect for him when he pulled that crap you're playing AFL act like it ffs.

For me Griffen was the most disappointing he had zero impact I was expecting him to play a ripper he did the exact opposite.

that was terrible.

absolutely terrible.

such a frustrating game to watch, they were asleep in the first quarter, kinda woke up in the second but couldn't convert. from there it was always going to be tough.

agree when it's your turn to go and put your head over the ball or back into a contest you have to go if you pull out it says alot for the team values

Yes it was a dismal effort. But it's gone now. ****ing man up and get behind the dogs next week, we win that and it's back on. Looking on the bright side, we wont be playing Crows in a prelim.

Not all doom and gloom.

did anyone play well.
wtf was that seriously, they dont deserve to wear the jumper

IMO Gilbee, Lake, Ward and Hudson played well, others were ok but up to half the teams players were awful including normally reliable players which was the most disappointing.

Griffen didnt really play enough of the game to have a massive impact, plus he has just come back from injury, so i didnt really expect him to open up the game much.

Hill did do 1 good passage of play, straight up the middle, 3 or 4 contests, and eventually got the ball out, apart from that he was pretty disappointing.

Gia did nothing. at all.

Its a shame when we work so hard to get that top 4 spot, then bring that in the finals. waiting until the 4th quarter to start playing "properly" really isnt good enough.

But next week is a new week, and a new game. We WILL win next week, whether it is Carlton or Brisbane. The players will now know, which they already should have, that they really are going to need to step it up in finals. Whatever the result in the coming weeks though, im still going to proudly support the red, white and blue, and be proud of their effort this year. I just hope, and believe, they can go all the way, as should all their supporters. Dont get 1 loss bring you down, Doggies are going to come back

It's so obvious, ain't it brother.

I share your pain and absolutely sick of it.

Who do we blame?

Everyone wants us to win. I saw some young kids gutted. I saw Smorgo gutted. I'm sure the players are gutted.

Is it MY fault? Am I the bad luck thing here. The common denominator?

What have we done to bring such heavy weight on us year after year.

I dunno.

Next week is bullshit. Who cares? Even if they win they'll bog themselves in the Preliminary.

I've had it. It's not your fault players. It's something about US. This Club.

I dunno.

Whether he's coming back from an injury or not, I've had a gutful of Griffen getting rundown from behind. He is way too casual for my liking.

To be honest, I know he's had a really difficult year, but he is getting paid extremely well to play AFL and I can't think of one game this year where he's had a significant influence.

As far as I'm concerned, we should put Griffen and Giansiracusa on the trade table and see if there are any takers.

Right now, I just feel numb. It's one disappointment after the next with our club.

The first finals series I saw was '92 and that ended with a belting [at the hands of Geelong].

After that came '94 with Brownless kicking that goal after the siren [God I hate Geelong] and then a thrashing at the hands of Melbourne followed by another belting by Geelong in '95.

We all know what happened in '97 and '98 and then in '99 it was West Coast followed by the Lions with that p***k Lynch and his choke sign and again the Lions in 2000.

I witnessed first hand the Eagles rubbing our face in it in 2006 and last year just made me sick.

The pain we feel is only experienced by one other team, St Kilda, and even they have played in a Grand Final in recent memory.

When will it ever end?

We lost by 14 points. We kciked 6 behinds in the last quarter. The first quarter there was barely any football in between the umpire giving geelong free kicks. Todays loss was our best loss for the year.

There is no use too single out anyone as the problem is one simple thing that is the barometre of our team and that is 1st quaters. The game we lost this year to Collingwood, Geelong , West Coast was all because of being belted in the 1st quarter and then we come back and just lose like today, but when we are fired up at the start like against Brisbane, Geelong and Collingwood and are even at quarter time we win because we run the game out better than other sides. So it is simple man up in the first quarter and make it tough and open up after that and the dogs will win but our 1st quarters have hurt us badly this year where Geelong always have good 1st quarters, not hard too work out.
