Can't believe the amount of negativity around here about our trades and possible draft picks. We get McMahon and there are cries about how we over paid to get him and should have targetted others. We got Morton and it seems that if we had of given up pick 18 for him he was a dud choice but because we gave up pick 35 he is a steal. Then there is the possibility of us recruiting Cale Morton ahead of Cotchin. With a lot of people calling that a mistake even before it has been decided on.

Can I just suggest that instead of hanging them straight away we let them go through pre season, play a few games of football for our club and then make the decision as to whether they were the right or wrong choices.

Excellent post... lets give these guys a chance FFS

These people who are critisizing Mcmahon as a player, and also Wallace and Miller will be the same people praising the 3 of them if Mcmahon plays some good footy.
It makes me sick when some people start throwing knives straight away. If Mcmahon turns out a dud for the RFC then come back and critisize.

I can appreciate what you guys are saying.

I am not a fan of McMahon, I will admit that but I will not bag him for no reason. I am a fan of his skilll level as he hits targets, something we desperatly need and he is a 1st round draft pick from his draft year.

Morton was a F/S in 2004, who if the F/S rules that applied this year had in 2004 would have been a 1st round draft choice also. Pick 35 is our 3rd round choice, in a weaker draft year I perceive we have done well with this trade. As I have not seen enough of him its hard to make a firm decision on how successful he will be.

Its hard to exactly know what has taken place, but Whispers said the Tiges got him for a bargain because they struck a deal with the Eagles to by-pass Cotchin who they really want.

this is just the way it is, remember last year with polak? no one gives a shit now because he was a good pick up, unfortunatly everyone thinks they know it all!!!!!

Im over these tools as well, they come on going miller is hopeless terry tan or wallet needs to go, why cant he trade this and that etc etc

They are idjets of the highest order they will be the same group that run around other boards carrying on like they are gods gift to football like the Carlton and Hawthorn supporters at the moment. I doubt wether they go to games, if they did they would see what we have been doing with our list.

So shut your mouths you whinging little shits get your heads out of your collective arses and get behind Richmond.

KB said similar to Miller the other day on SEN, and he just laughed using Sheeds as an example. Half of his e-mails were from Tigers who were threatening to tear up there membership if he came to Richmond, and the other half threatening to tear up there membership if we didnt get him. He was just happy we are very pasionet supporters:D

you havent watched mcmahon the last 5 years?

the guy is a soft **** who will not bring anything more to the side than what we already have in newman and also connors in the future

you guys can keep hoping it turns out good but the proof will be for all to see by round 10 next year

I personally am happy with the boys we've picked up. It's easy to critisize behind a keyboard and screen. Get behind the club - just imagine barracking for a carlton or collingwood..... God i hate em. McMahon will really help the run out of defence and CAN hit a target going forward. And Morton will be very handy - especially hooking up with his bro on the team when the draft in Nov comes around :thumbsu:

i agree. i'm so glad we picked up players with good skillsets. we need bigger bodies too, but the amount of times i remember covering my eyes when we had the ball this year was ridiculous

My favourite poster on here
Well said
I woulda been happy with morton for 19 and mcmahon for a 3rd round
so im happy with the trades
think both will really suit our side

Reports in the paper suggest we got him on the cheap because he was out of contract and we would have taken him for nothing instead we offered the Eagles something for nothing basically to keep on their good side for future deals. As far as Cotchin/C/.Morton deals go who knows but I'm guessing that both sides know that with either player they are going to get a very good footballer and as such WC are not fussed who we pick.

Why do you suggest I haven't watched him for 5 years because I suggest that we let him play a game for our club before we start the traditional, support them when they go well shoot them when they are poor, style of support we have given to players for the past 25 years.

You might want to sit there and dread the up coming season, believing it will be one of doom and gloom and thats your right, and getting stuck into the hacks that have been on our list and currently remain there is all well and good as well but judging players on their reputation from their previous club is dangerous. I remember reading about how Polak was a dud pick up for us and would bring nothing to the table. Now I'll conceed he didn't play CHB like I hoped he would but he was a damn site better than what people had suggested he would go.

Tell me something, while McMahon & Morton might have a reps as a soft squibs, is that going to matter that much if they are getting on the end of the hard work of others and are delivering the ball, towards Richo, Brown, Pettifer, Riewoldt and co lace out on the chest. Instead of 5m above, in front or to the side like they have been recieving the ball for the past 3-4 years, well in Richos case his career.

If that is what they bring to the table then I'll take that over players that have been able to get hold of the ball and then kick it to the opposition then watch in horror as the ball goes back over their heads to their opponents who take an uncontested mark and bang through another goal.

100% spot on - a point well made.
The "experts" are restless.
I know nothing about Morton so will not comment...and watch with interest. A mate of mine is a Eagles tragic who really rates him highly and was filthy they traded him.
I note that we already have players in Pettifer and Brown as smallish goalkickers so this will be a further spur for Pettifer to continue his upward graph....in truth the only ways were up or out for KP as he was a shower o' shite 3 years ago.
McMahon has chopped us up playing for the Doggies so he has something there that will likely be a positive....if we wait and see.
People don't seem to want to accept that almost every player comes with a degree of risk in the draft....sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - this is not just a Richmond thing, it happens at all clubs.
