Whilst there is robust discussion around our coaching direction, the future of some of our players and of course our recruiting, I think it is a good time to reflect on the fact we are on the positive side of the win / loss ratio with a decent draw after the bye and a good chance of playing finals for the first time in a long time.

Our expectations are rising and with that some extreme views of where we should be at are coming through which may not be warranted at this stage of our development.

We should be proud of the progression we have made so far, but we should also recognise that we are not there yet and there is a lot of work to be done over the next year or two before and we will be in the mix for a flag.

We can win against the WCE. Let's get behind the RFC.

Cheers,

We are behind them.

Most of us have donated into the hundreds, some even thousands of dollars.

We've got a record breaking 58,000 members.

We've lifted attendances to over 80,000k on three occasions so far this season.

It's time for the players to give a shit and play some good footy. Nearly all Richmond supporters have been bloody amazing and it's time they're rewarded with an effort better than last weeks pathetic display.

Sorry, just read your thread and realised you are trying to cross infect threads.

Well it's a bitter pill too swallow when you say 'we should be proud of our progression so far'.

I mean I understand and somewhat respect your positivity, but **** man, 12 years since we've made finals. We shouldn't be proud of shit. Praising mediocrity is depressing.

I watched a Michael Jackson interview where he was asked what made him upset.

His answer? Not getting the job done. He strived for 100% on the dot, he said he knew that was impossible, but 99.9999999% is not. The guy changed history and is recognised as the greatest entertainer of all time by the Guinness World Records. Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest basketballers of all time said that Michael Jackson was a bigger influence to him than Michael Jordan. Because Jackson shared traits with elite sports stars, perfection. He didn't sleep without thinking of the job ahead.

You reckon these true elites of their profession accepted mediocrity? No, they spat in the face of it. Look deep into Richmond's last 30 years, when the going gets tough - we crumble.

This will be a true test of where we're at. The next two months will say everything about what we're trying to achieve with Brendon Gale. We've already failed the 3-0-75 plan. The greats simply do everything that they can to succeed. Which brings me to your point, we've given everything as supporters to Richmond, this side has the best opportunity to succeed, especially compared to the sides of 95' and 01'. This side has been given time, elite training facilities, patient supporters and most importantly, the absolute best equipment of any club in the league. The administration and the supporters have done everything, so it's a cop out for us to get 'behind our Tigers'.

The mollycoddling has to stop now. They need to get the job done. Simple.

Holy crap, you lost me at Well.

I wish you well in finding anything in life that makes you happy. However, with your name, I fear that may never happen.

A nice glass of chilled soda water, with a slice of lemon on a cool winter's night get's me relaxed and rejuvenated for another day's work.

15 years of duck, duck, goose get's me really pissed. When will we ever get the goose?

It's very interesting seeing your 2 conflicting views on our club.
That's the beauty of sport, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
I can see where you're coming from (both of you).
I will always, ALWAYS get behind my tigers and will defend them until the death.
All I ask, as a supporter and a member, is that they give 100% each week.
This starts with tackling.
The fact that we are last in the AFL is an outright disgrace.
Premierships aren't won by good attacking teams, they are won by defensive minded sides and this is a fact.
Sort out our tackle numbers and the rest will fall into place.

God, I'm sick of people who think that supporters 'accepting mediocrity', or any other actions, has any tangible effect upon the progress of our football club. Stop trying to hijack other peoples threads, and go back to your own self-indulgent whine fest.

I'm also sick of people who try to be the voice of reason.

At least Celtdave and I are discussing Richmond.

You're discussing people who are discussing Richmond, adding no real value and opening up the floodgates to more posts like yours that stray off the topic of the Richmond Football Club.

Just like this post.

Ok - Went past Well in our original post and now I am complete stupid for doing so, but for what its worth, I have responded (yes, stupidly infected by your post)

MJ was an alleged kiddy fiddler and he is dead from a drug overdose - NO RESPECT

I never said anything about accepting mediocrity. I think you were reading your own negative thread and you were up for a fight!

The team has had Elite training facilities for 6 minutes FFS, Benny G is building a club for the future, the whole 3-0-75 is a stretch goal / a vision for you to call this a failure is a clear demonstration of our lack of understanding about setting a vision. The best equipment of any club in the league?????????? are you drunk?????

I will now die a more stupid person for reading your response, but moreso in actually responding to yue pst, s its hapejjjing ajeady.

But if WCE win by more than 39, I'll win $800.

On ya Dave :thumbsu:

Plenty of time to bitch and moan once the season is officially gone - 5-4, plenty of winnable games to go, players to return and form to recapture - we're not even half way into the season here...

P.S: I find it hard to take anything posted by someone with the name and avatar of a WWE wrestler seriously!

Will be behind the team tomorrow night. Hopefully NicNat/Cox don't tear us a new one and we're a chance. We lost to the better Perth team by 1 point with seconds separating us.

Much happier with the 5 inclusions on Thursday night. Showed me Dimma wants to reward good form from the younger guys. Ultimately Dea was the only one to get a game. Edwards I'm not a fan of but has been good and McGuane needed replacing. Up to the big Griff to take that spot. It's his to take but he needs to put in. Sounds like he played well today. Would have been nice if he was more accurate than 1.3 but positive he had 4 shots on goal.

Despite a few things I've said this week which may come across as negative I do believe we're on the right track but just a few things need tinkering.

But they are my dreamteam rucks :(

Agree 100%. I love and support my team just as much as anybody on here, always a paid up member and go every week rain, hail or shine. As I walked out of the game after our display last week, for the first time I thought to myself what's going on? This team is capable of much more than what it is producing. In the past I have never really thought about this because in the past, we simply haven't been good enough. We have all been waiting too long. The players and coaches need to realise just how loyal we have been and to never ever put in anything less than 110%, because last week was disgraceful. If they are not going to play for the jumper and give everything for the club, why should we?

Are basing the entire season on last week? And are you blaming your feelings over the past 31 years (or however long you've been following the Tiges) on Dimma's 3 seasons? If so, your thinking seems quite irrational fellow tigerhead.

I reckon Celtic Dave gave a balanced assessment of our beloved club when he said "We should be proud of the progression we have made so far, but we should also recognise that we are not there yet and there is a lot of work to be done over the next year or two before and we will be in the mix for a flag." Or did you miss that bit?

i dont jump on here and bash the club but i do under stand the undertakers point of view.
yes we have won 5 games but we have also been very poor against the contenders, we hardly even looked like we where in the games. The game plan looks shite and i am not really confident that it will stand up when we get more experienced and become a better team.

i have been watching sport for around 50 years and there is a look about a team that is a contender or even wants to be a contender, you can see the efforts you can sense the desperation and you can really feel there disapointment when they fall short. i dont see that look about my team and have not seen it for a long time

will i still support the club? of course i will.

Nah I wasn't, I was just trying to say that us as supporters have been waiting a very long time (31 years as you have stated), and therefore we deserve to see our players give everything they have for the club every single week. Last week I don't believe some players did that, and in my opinion regardless of what we have done this season prior to last week, that is unacceptable. We are capable of a lot more than what we are currently showing.

Ps. Of course my thinking is going to be irrational, I'm a Richmond supporter :D

Fair enough. :thumbsu: Sometimes it sounds like us supporters are dumping our 31year history on this new group, coach included, which is unfair.
