Let's get creative with trades

Yep and u can blame Damien for that, he refuses to give others game time. Dea should b in the side everyday of tr week over Morris. Morris goes hard at it but this year he was a massive liability.
Not even close, for all the hype about Dea he often looks like a deer in the headlights when playing at AFL level and I've been a fan of Dea since his first year when watching him at Coburg.

Fair enough Bob. You think we will bite the bullet and upgrade fitness area for next year? All the Executive are talking up a thorough review of the footy department even before we got into our final, surely that will include fitness area?

I sure hope so.

They need to invest heavily into this area. I haven't heard anything in this regard.

I would be Targetting Andrew Russell from Hawthorn. Been there a long time and if they win a flag, a new challenge may be on his agenda.

After Burgess, best program in the land.

Assuming Vickery wanted to go to Carlton I would do Vickery and our 3rd for Garlett and their 2nd. May be overs but it could pay off.

Rookie Wangerneen and we we all of sudden have some pace and 3 draft picks in the top 35.

We do our best to trade our first for either Sheil or Mitchell if not we draft inside mid, outside mid and developing backmen.

So you're saying you'd give up a 23 year old key forward with a lot of talent coming into his prime for a small forward being pushed out the door and a pick upgrade that doesn't even guarantee a good selection?

Yup.

This is the thread where we are being creative?

Honestly think you are not giving Garlett enough credit. At his best he will kick just many goals as a year as Vickery and is something we are lacking in. In doing so we are upgrading our pick by around 25 positions.

Think it could be a win win.

Trade Vickery to Freo for there first (pick 13)

pick 11- Shiel
pick 13 - Duggan
pick 31 - Trade to Carlton for Jeff Garlett
pick 48 - Trade to Gold Coast for Gorringe (pretty sure thats not gonna happen, maybe throw in Grigg)
pick 67 - Upgrade Miles

GET IT DONE TIGES!

There's no hype about dea. He might not b a great football player but he's 10x the player Morris is. If Morris plays next year we will not improve. Hate to b harsh but he is absolute Shit!!

There was/is a heap of hype about Dea, the kid got given number 7 after 7 games in 2 seasons, that doesn't happen without something to back it up especially when Hardwick has the mantra that players will earn low numbers.

As for Morris, the bloke needed a shoulder reco from before the season and still managed to keep a fully fit Dea out of the side, even Batchelor, getting 5-6 disposals a week was able to keep Dea out of the side. Given practically everyone else that is deemed important has been signed for next year while Dea hasn't I'm not even sure that Dea will be on the list come list lodgement at the end of October.

I'd say the fault with that lies with Dimma and not Dea.

Dea played some sensational VFL games and never got a look in while Morris was stinking it up continually.

Honestly, Dimma has his favourites and they are impossible to dislodge.
If Dea doesn't make the last lodgement then Dimma is mentally retired . Newman is running around in one leg and Morris could get golden staf while in hospital getting his shoulder fixed.

Keeping Newman and getting rid of Dea alone would be another all time brain fart moment like gettin Hampson and Thomas last year. Dea has 7 years of footy in him and Newman has played 2 seasons too long and going for a third.

Nonsense on stilts

The fact Morris has needed a shoulder reco from the start of tbe season has nothing to with the part where the bloke can't play and was put of form the entire season and never got dropped!

If Vickery goes (I doubt it), then the cats are the team to trade with as they still think they are a shot at a premiership next year.

I'm not sure what the deal would be and I bet not cats fan would accept it but Vickery and for their first pick and Hunt as steak knives.

Like I said in your opinion Morris is crap and yet despite this and the fact that he was carrying an injury all year Dea couldn't dislodge him from the side, even when Morris missed with suspension he was back immediately, while Dea wallowed away in the VFL. Says a heap more about where Dea is at if he can't dislodge a player you say is crap.

Spoke to a Carlton dude at work - Garlett's ex packed bags and took their son back home (perth?). He's been a headcase since and a shadow of the player who was a deadly small forward. Good riddance (he said) and if he's not traded he'll be flicked - did zilch in the two's this year.

just the messenger....

Well that certainly makes him less appealing. Get him under Chocco's wing ;)

Dea was more than serviceable when he came in, Morris is a fav with coach that's the only reason he gets a game

I'd say if he's missing his kid then a return to the West may be on the cards.

Probably right. But Choco may just smack him around the ears a bit and tell him to man up and realise acting like this will never make him a decent father.

I think Morris deserves his spot in the side, but this argument misses the fact that the coaching staff are very, very, reluctant to replace their chosen 'best 22' with anybody from the 2s. Look how long it took Miles to come in, despite being in better form than this competition since the NAB cup. Dea has been great in the VFL and the persistence with players like Newman ahead of him are an indictment on the coaches.
