Its not true. America are and always have been the biggest drug cheats in the world. all the best science comes from there, most of the big pharmaceuticals are based in america and heavily involved in sport. Pharmaceutical companies are probably the biggest fraudsters in capitalism. Seriously.

look at the american election, the corruption in that country is rife, is a matter of public knowledge.
They still have people like Travis Tygart (sp) who look to put people like Armstrong and Jones away.

People who try to do that in Russia tend to disappear quickly

i'm not saying Russia is clean or not corrupt. the journey in my life has saw me seeing things about our culture we don't want to face and instead pick on others for.

Lance Armstrong was actually trying to steer people away from pharmaceutical companies. He came to Adelaide and put his name to several projects to prevent cancer and thus avoid the pharmaceutical merry go round. He invested heavily into charity, to spread his message through the livestrong foundation. This is why he was singled out for doping in a sport, few did not. it wasnt drugs that won him his fame, but he wouldn't of got anywhere without them. Everyone was on them.

The US just have access to better technology.

Did you suspect Armstrong, Marion Jones, Jon Jones, etc etc
Everyone looked at Flo Jo and knew/said she was on the gear. Her early death only confirmed suspicions for most people. Marion Jones married a known doper and her coach was always pushing the envelope. Lance was praised by many outside the tour but the cyclists themselves knew and talked about it. It was the UCI that hid Armstrongs results in the early days and then couldn't hold the dragon back.

My starting point is that every athlete is either on PED or pushing the nutrition/supplements envelope to some extent. The reason the drug Sharapova got done for , had its status changed , was the high number of results coming back when it was legal. There will be similar spikes in certain supplements that will be looked at and analysed.

Maybe for people who only pay attention to swimming for 1 week every 4 years and therefore measure an entire career's achievement based solely on what they do in the Olympics.

"She's never won anything before and NOW she's doing this?"

Anyone who actually knows about swimming knows she has been very, very good for a long time, but had never put her best foot forward at the Olympics for a long time.

"She's won everything else and NOW she's got the full set."

Many variables exist that influence times. At 22 she is about that age where ladies are at their physical peak. She has broken world records before so it's not like it's out of the blue. In fact she broke it in Russia last year at the world championships. I would be more suspicious if she hadn't been known for world records before now.

22? isn't this her 4th olympics?

Exactly. Great post

Everything seems to be going right for us in the pool so far. Doesn't appear to be this party attitude of the past. Looks like its all business at this stage of the competition.
Yep. In previous olympics (Sydney, Athens, Beijing) it seemed like we always performed above ourselves. In every race. If our swimmer was an outside medal chance, they'd get one. If they had a sniff of gold, they'd win it. If there was 25m left and it was stroke for stroke, they'd get the touch. They ALWAYS did it.

In London we seemed to go in very cocky and it was the opposite. Losing all but the most unlosable.

Looks to have reverted back this time. Horton was a good chance but no sure thing and got up. The relay girls were expected to win and did it pretty comfortably in the end.

Even the two 400IM blokes put in good swims to get to the final. And Emma McKeon put in a stormer in her semi-final.

Always good to see these athletes perform above themselves. Whether that's winning gold when you expect silver, or making a final when you're expecting 15th.

I don't disagree with what your saying. Im implying the countries like the US are better at staying ahead of the game.

Of course they are ahead of the game. They have to invent it first for WADA to ban it.

That Hungary girl absolutely obliterated the 400 IM world record, amazing swim

Eastern European bloc.

Def sus.

Nah, Hungary is part of NATO, has a multiparty system and is run by the Conservatives, another bastion of US style democracy ......
they would be as clean as the yankees

Glad Mitch Iles kicked up such a stink to get a spot in the Olympics.

Looks like we are a good show to have a trap shooter in the finals in both men's and women's. Doesn't have a patch on dressage as a spectator sport though... #channel7decisions

The Channel 7 coverage is disgusting. I'm watching more commercials than olympics and a lot of that in SD. Bring on the day where they finally allow Foxtel to do it properly.

And watching through the Channel 7 (free) app is even worse. They make you watch 30 seconds of ads every time you switch channels only to discover that the channel you switched to is also showing a block of tv commercials.

I don't want to buy the paid app as I won't be watching too much live (due to the broadcast hours) and I don't trust 7 anyway. They'll probably still force me to watch commercials.

Garbage.

Just die already FTA television. Foxtel is a rip off but at least they do sports fantastically well and completely in HD. Hello 2016.
