My brother in law informed me that 1951 premiership player Ron Leaver passed away late last week. Ron was longtime friends of his parents, and I got to meet and chat to Ron for about 20 minutes, at his mother's 90th birthday a few years ago. I just checked yesterday's 'Tsier and saw that the club put in a tribute to Ron in the deaths notice section. Sadly there's not many left from Fos' 1950-58 era.

Vale Ron.

Is that besides the fact that the current Race Director of the Tour Down Under is former Port Adelaide Footballer Club Ambassador Stuart O'Grady?
You missed the obvious one of former Ports' employee Hitaf Rasheed being active in the media currently promoting The Festival of Cycling. :)

Well the The Festival of Cycling is headed up by O'Grady in his Tour Down Under role...
So a double connection. Definitely must be discussed in this thread.

I recall someone posting in here that they loved to watch the cycling for the scenery. The scenery would be a lot better if they got all of those bikes and spectators out of the way.

I thought Hitaf was publicly executed two years ago for bringing the covid plague into south Australia by personally sneaking the families of Port Powa players across the border in the boot of her car

Some interesting PR takes on today's date from some clubs social media.

I thought our post was a good statement but of course it's meet with the usual chorus of "**** off mate don't change my Australia Day" and the always fun "just concentrate on football for ****s sake" which I'm sure made Travis Boak who clearly spent the last week writing the post instead of training really reflect on his time.

Jenny Williams has been awarded an OAM.

I can't believe two times AFLCA Coach Of The Year Kenny Hinkley hasn't been awarded an AOM.

Does the man who single handedly save the PAFC from oblivion have to wait until he has retired to receive this much deserved honour?
