Comparable on the basis that he was their most skilled and tradable player and they made the hard decision to trade him. Unlike Richmond. Lids is our most skilled player. Whatever you think of him, we havent progressed to win finals with him in the team. Thats because we are crying out for our senior players to be leaders not just skilled footy players.

Should he be traded now? Of course not. Should he ave been traded 4-5 years ago. For sure.

Let's offload him for a first round pick or a quality young player that will be around when we're ready to challenge while he still has currency

Don't think the woofers will have to much trouble retaining players under value should they feel their flag window is open or they actually win one.The risk of coarse is if they stumble and then players ask for more to stay or they leave.The only player who looks anything like a money man is Stringer(Outside of Boyd).

Terrible idea. As already stated by many, very destabilising to our culture to remove Lids. Promising juniors will struggle without the guidance and experience of quality players around them, stalling their development. According to everyone we have bugger all leaders and here is a suggestion to jettison one of the few we have.

Agreed. We need him too much which is the overall point I am making. Says everything about our recruitment and they're lack of courage and foresight that Deledio who is a talented player but not grown as a senior player to be a leader in any way, cannot be traded because the rest of our list is 3 levels below him.

No way should we look to trade Lids out, and there are a few reasons why:

1: It would be a poor way to repay him after he knocked back huge offers from GWS, GC and Hawthorn a few years ago.
2: He is a leader around the club. He is the one player that most people look to with the way he goes about playing and training.
3: Far too important to our side, and we have no one adequate enough to fill in for him.
4: Deledio now is worth more to us than what he would be to other clubs. Getting on in years, and injuries are getting more and more frequent. Clubs wouldn't offer what we think Deledio would be worth.
