This kid can play really good footy, and could easily slot into a FF role next year with no issues at all.
Great grab, big bodied and a good set shot for goal, this selection will allow Kruezer to stay in the ruck with Warnock.

Highlight package....

Cool name but I dont think we need another ruckman we got Kruze, Hammer, Sammy, Robbie Warnock and Clokey already.

He'll be developed as a forward, which really allows Kreuzer to play in the ruck. And Cloke has gone to Port.

needs to learn how to lead at the ball if he wants to play at FF.

Similar height and weight to Tippett from the Crows. I suspect he'd have a look at quite a few of his highlights. I'm rapped we've ended up drafting Casboult.

From an article I read on him his played CHF as well as the ruck. He'll be a touch short for the latter but very nice for CHF. At 103kg at least we don't have to build him up. Just turn the weight into actual strength for AFL level, if, in fact, that's needed.

His agility for a big bloke is pretty good also. I wonder what is was that all clubs overlooked him in the ND?

Splendini, C23, TGR?

Probably the fact that he hasn't really made a position his own. Not his fault more doing what he's been asked. He's probably spent most of his time at the stingrays as a ruck and at 198cm he'd be undersized, but he's got FF written all over him for mine.

That's pleasing to hear TGR. So no real obvious flaws he needs to work on.

IIRC his field kicking wasn't crash hot at the start of the year, but definitely improved....set shots seem fine....also a 19yo and at 103kg, might have had a size and strength advantage that will shrink somewhat at the top level. That said, I was a fan, particularly the contested marking and as you say he is fast enough on the lead. Not sure about character, Blues2010 might like to comment if he feels comfortable doing so. Physiology is not really my go, but skinfolds a little bit high and at 103 already I'm guessing you'd want to watch he doesn't bulk up too quickly.

Now that's he in a professional AFL envionment, you'd have to think that his skin folds will improve. I know, barracking for Carlton, and then being drafted by them, you'd do anything to improve your chances to playing senior footy.

Theres flaws. He needs to get fitter as Splendini said. His lateral movement could improve and his field kicking is average. However he's a fairly decent shot for goal.

Given that he doesn't lead all that well but has good size and pace, I think playing him down back as the 3rd tall would be a good move. That should free up Waite to be permanently locked at CHF (thats a big, big win) and allow Hendo to develop himself as FF.

Sorry, but I really want Hendo locked in the goal square, and now we have (maybe) enough tall backmen to allow Waite to play CHF his preferred position.

Guess the recruiters knew what they were doing afterall ;)

I hope so we do have enough Ruckmen on our list i feel. It's good we took a couple of talls at least.

For those in the know...

Casboult or Panos?

Interesting that (IIRC) Panos was as early as second round for some in the ND phantoms. And Carlton had the choice of either.

What do you mean "for those in the know"?

You couldn't possibly be suggesting that any posters on BigFooty know more than WH and the Carlton recruiting staff......

For those that matter it was Casboult. Panos is largely irrelevant.

Casboult's a much bigger boy and a few more strings to his bow....contested marking is a strength and doens't mind the physical stuff. Panos pretty much a lead, mark and kick player and doesn't really have the size or physicality to be a real presence. At 198cm Casboult probably tests about the same as Panos athletically and could also pinch hit in the ruck or handle forward line ruck duties.

Ask the Bulldogs staff and they'll probably give you a completely different answer :)
