LOL at lids wiping the sweat off the ****wits face, but disgraceful that the umpire paid the free.
Especially considering that Didak did a simliar thing by touching Slattery's face Friday night and the umpire did nothing about that.

Consistancy please

I think he was wiping away Henderson's tears after he had sobbed to the umpires.

Was funny, but trust the umpire to find a free-kick in it.

Carlton sooking rewarded by typically anti-Richmond umpiring. Shouldn't really be that surprising, to be honest. Wouldn't surprise to see a free given to N. Riewoldt next week if he gets a dirty look from one of our defenders...

There is no such thing as ANTI RICHMOND UMPIRING ?

Umpires dont go out and think "ohh im gonna pin Richmond this week im gonna favour their opposition so hard its gonna be great" its just bias supporters that only see their team doing things right

One thing however that is true is Good teams i believe definately get a bit more room to move with some of their rules were Bad teams are pinned quicker

Although it frustrates the hell out of me, I can usually cope with inconsistencies with "normal" decisions like holding, blocking, arm chopping & even hands in the back to some degree.

I guess during a game , umpires get caught on angles & perhaps behind fast moving players and therefore don't get a clear enough view... unlike what can be seen on TV for example.

However, these sort of bullshit "tiggy touchwood" technical, soft, crap type decisions are just examples of over-officiating and umpire ego tripping & need to be stamped out to save the umpires being totally held in contempt. (If they are not now already)

Deledio's actions were akin to ruffling an opposition player's hair, which you won't see any other player getting pinged for. The umpire should be dropped for that.

Another example was the free to Garlett early on 20m out, against O'Reilly. The umpire had obviously seen that O'Reilly was checking him close, and had made up his mind something was going to happen, and just guessed. The replay showed there was absolutely no hold or block (they were side by side). Ridiculous decision. Based on that, Riewoldt would get a free kick every single time we go inside 50.

Apart from those decisions getting up my goat, I agree with Kyuss :)

I have a theory on why this is. (I see it on Saturday mornings with my daughters basketball team as well)

"Good" teams usually run to more well-oiled systems... play with greater confidence and a degree of assertiveness. (Maybe even arrogance)

When a good team gets on top of a less experienced team, they click into gear and start just rolling along. 50/50 calls end up being 60/40 as the more experienced players and team keeps just imposing themselves on the contests and umpires inadvertently get dragged along.

Only the best and most experienced whistle blowers can 100% separate themselves from the mood, pace, emotion and momentum of a game... they need to be able to!

(Does not excuse the towel debacle though...)

I actually thought it was going to be a free for interfering with an opposition official, or something along those lines.

Couldn't believe it when they paid it for high contact, was pleased it wasn't a goal.

Get over it guys it was always gonna be a free and Lids would know that.
Just like the dude who got a free against him for throwing Cuz's shoe away a few months ago.
Ruffling the hair is quite different from grabbing a towel from a trainer and wiping an oppositions face with it - even though it was funny it is not on

lol yeah he was whiping his tears, was an absolute pisser. can't believe it was a free kick though, there has been far worse this season.

we're too tough for the umpires, if we sooked more we would get more consistensy in free kicks.

Lids used the towel in the wrong area. Henderson needed it to wipe his arse after he shat himself 10 times per game for hearing footsteps.

LOL so true!

Yeh look it was funny but at the end of the day it was a dumb thing to do, end of story. I'm all for personality and flair but we don't need one of our leaders being a smart ass like that. He'l learn from it though, someone will have a quick word to him no doubt, the old "yeh don't do that again".

This.

I really doubt umps go out to stitch up particular teams.

But that doesn't mean they don't have in the back of their heads that the lower club is more likely to scrag the higher club to bring them back, or that player X, or Club Y is more likely to play 'to the limits of the rules' and look for it.

Sadly, that's human nature, and much as we'd love umpires to come in to each game without any pre-judgements, they will.

The best we can hope for is they're kept to a minumum and that before long we'll be a 'top' club and get the better of it.

Nowadays the umps are taking it upon themselves to be like schoolteachers and punishing kids for stepping out of line.
The most ridiculous decision i have ever seen and to top it off the dick head ump had no hesitation in awarding a direct shot for goal.
I mean how ****ed is that? If they can explain it as some kind of rule yes, but if the dick head geisch has anything remotely to say to suggest that it is a rule, then if we see someone doing something like that at the 29 minute mark of a GF and the scores a level WILL THEY PAY IT? If its a rule then its a rule.
I would like to see it happen in a GF and the scum pies are the ones on the other end of it...and they lose it because of that....****ing Anarchy will engulf not only the g but the whole of melbourne.
He was a ****ed coach and with that in his CV they made him head of the umpires...is it any wonder why the whole thing is ****ed? How do these monkeys keep getting jobs after failing in their previous jobs? What is it with this shit hole of a comp that just keeps rewarding failure with a new gig to fail in. ;)

Good to see some onfield emotion from Lids for the first time ever in his career.

I liked it.
Sadly the only good memory of the game.
I particularly liked it from Lids, who should know better, and who usually keeps his nose a bit too clean. Might get another Delidio fridge magnet!

Joke of a decision, If I was eating at the time I probably would have choked and died it was that awful. Dismal effort by the boys to not help Lids out even though they could clearly see he was being tagged heavily.

Deledio should never play as an actual man on man defender. He's a midfielder not a defender, I hate watching him being wasted on some arrogant forward when he could be in the thick of it making a difference.

Agreed. Are people really prepared to put up with this sort of bullsh*t?
If so the AFL has trained you to be monkeys, or you were not lucky enough to see football 15 years ago when it truly was a 'beautiful game'.

That was, without doubt, the most crazy, and contrary to the spirit of the game decision I have ever seen in my life... and I've seen some bad ones.
If it keep going that way there will be free kicks paid for what one player says to another?!
Discraceful. Give us our game back.
