I have a feeling Roger will win 10 of the next 12 grand slams. He will be pushed by terriors like Nadal and Hewitt. Ocassionally bamboozled by big hitters, who are just as likely to disappear before he meets them in Grand Slams.
I think, like Tiger he may set a benchmark that only a robot will get near.
Sit back folks and enjoy the ride!
Federer to win this years Open in a canter.

i actually reckon he's on the way down. at least by his standards. starting to lose a few maches this year. as people have said in other threads, i reckon the gap between federer and the rest (particularly the top three or four under fed) is closing fast.

Disagree, but i guess so what. All can have opinions.
I can see him dropping plenty of games in the coming years, just not in the majors. You dont see Tiger winnning all the small tournaments. I can see Roger losing to many players, just not in the big 4 tournaments. He will set himself for these.
May not lose a set in the upcoming US open. It could get scary.

extremely lucky to win 25 majors. if he continues to win 2 or 3 slams a year like he has done, it'll take him like seven more years to reach 25. i doubt he will get to 20, even that's a very high number.

He's a moral to get 20..he has already got 12 hasn't he? Well add the US Open, Australian and Wimbledon next year to that and you have 15 and I recon next year will be the year he wins the French. Next year is his best chance imo as he has had 3 yrs to get used to the clay.

Yep- bound to reach 20 AT LEAST. How much more I don't know, there are a lot of factors including whether he actually wants to be still playing tennis when he is 35. If I were to put a number I would say he'd get somewhere between 20-25 majors

12 Grand Slams. Only needs 3 more to get to 15 and overtake Pete and his handy 14. Should achieve this by next years US Open. May yet get to 25. Awesome.

He'll get 20, but not much more. Eventually he will get a injury. People seem to forget that Federer has been relatively injury free in recent times.

I think this is a very good point and though his graceful elegant style clearly helps him avoid wear and tear he is still the Must Beat Guy in every game he plays and everyone raises his game against him. This is huge pressure.

People are forgetting just how difficult it is to win majors. John McEnroe won 7. Connors 8 and to break Sampra record Federer has to win that much combined.. They don't grow on trees.

The top player is the target for everyone and there is a reason people don;t last forever. My own feeling is that federer will win about 17 before the chasing pack rein him in. he may win more or it may be less depending on injury and form and desire but 25 is totally out of the question. it is not possible to remain at No. 1 in tennis for the 8 or 9 years he would have to stay there to achieve that figure. Impossible even for him.

Twenty five? Are you joking? He'd have to hit the "Grand Slam" 3 years running and an extra one at that to get there the quickest way... which I don't think will happen. Most likely 2 or 3 a year... so 4 to 7 years staying at the top, and to do this he will have to be on top of his game when he hits his 30s (unlikely).

Most people are saying around 20 majors give and take. Injuries will decide how many more majors.

He has 12. You say he could win 2-3 a year for the next 4-7 years.
Lets say 2.5 a year for 5.5 years (Taking the middle ground)
2.5 x 5.5 = 13.75
12 + 13.75 = 25.75
Not far off 25.
:D

5.5 years? he will be 32 by then...its impossible to keep going in todays tennis world till you are 32.Andre agassi is the only example you will find, the rest have gone downhill after 26, becker, lendl, edberg, sampras, courier chang, all of them.

obviously he can, however its very difficult to do and history is against federer. Remember he never had any injuries in his career, his body will break down sometime or the other.

True, but Federer has proven me wrong on more than one occasion! I am not going to count him out against winning 20+ slams.
