Ling up forward

Ling should have been moved up forward LAST year and played Ablett's forward role; he was a full-forward in juniors....

He needs to use his defensive pressure in our forward line and leave the midfield to the quicker blokes.

I can see him kicking 50 goals, I can't see him tagging the opposition's best midfielder anymore

Ditto all you've said, what a help he'd be to Tom Hawkins with his strength and added pressure on the defence unlike the lack of support Tom had against the Saints, would also take pressure away from James Pods.

Its gotta be done, IMO.

Very funny Dave, just believe.

On a more serious note, I hope we start assembling a more senior squad for the Carlton hitout, a little confidence before the season starts is not a real bad thing!!!
OK, run 4-5 kids, but I hope that's all we need to fill out the side.

How good is that to hear!! That article along with Kelly's about fitness, is exactly what we all wanted to hear and most of all see this year from the mighty catters!

For Ling to work forward he would need a certain forward setup and I dont think having Hawkins,Mooney and Ottens there , he will work.

However , having Hawkins matched with a couple of athletic talls like a Brown type and a Taylor type would suit him and SJ far better.Allowing him to play his version of a Rooke , perhaps a little less ruthless but more scoreboard dangerous.I have no doubt one on one he would handle himself well but it would be essential that he not get the most athletic backman.

Otto, Tomahawk and Otto in the forward half would make us top heavy. No question. My thought on Linga being a mobile CHF was contingent on Moons not being available.

I still like the idea if Moons doesn't come up. Linga came to us as a forward, is capable overhead, an accurate kick and capable of running any CHB ragged Riewoldt style. And we all know how good he can be defensively.

Past your bed time Ammo:D

It doesn't say Ling will be a permanent forward anywhere, it just says he might get used there, if he's not required in the midfield. Also, that all players will be required to be versatile.

I think it'll mean more of a pocket/flank and it'll more than likely just be midfield rotation, unless there is no match-up in the midfield.

Basically what we all think, against some midfielders he's too slow, if that's the case throw him forward and put someone with pace in the guts. Hopefully that's decided before the game and the team selected accordingly.
