Good article. Reading through that list of players just makes me feel like we're missing some oomf. Would love to see a quality A grade player recruited into this squad from somewhere. We must be active during trade week. Use pick 4 in the draft but trade our 2nd and 3rd.

A bit pointless. Blew sunshine up the asse of every player on the list and more or less described them as quality players who have played well this year and over the last few years. Didn't criticise any of them or suggest anybody had had below par seasons. How can that be when you win a spoon by a massive margin? That article was so light and fluffy and lacking in substance it could have been written by Worsfold himself.

Which assessments do you disagree with?

Agreed with most of it. Agree with Marlin that perhaps a little generous with Priddis and A Selwood and also McGinnity. Thought Wilson deserved a higher mark, especially for his AFL games. Reviewer puts the case for Hams, Strijk and Stevenson to be elevated. I think Wilson should also be elevated, has shown enough for mine. Interesting that all the players that I think should be traded/delisted are on Schmook's list too: viz. Lynch, Hansen,
B Jones, Nicoski, McKinley, Spangher, Wilkes and Sullivan.

I disagree with you too. The writer was critical or "measured" (read critical without being brutal - after all it is a public document) about a number of players that warranted it such as Brown, Masten, Notte, McKinley - I don't want to go through all of them, and was balanced in his assessment of Ebert, for example. I think your statement on this occasion is somewhat over the top.

Tim Houlihan: A pre-season foot injury sidelined the wingman for the first eight weeks and he was unable to crack an AFL game thereafter. Has managed just 15 games in four seasons, but his pace makes him unique and required at West Coast.

Quoted from article.

Absolutely agree.

Yer all the delist/trades he mentioned i completely agreed with. that gives me hope that if outsiders expect us to do it then we might actually do it or be forced to. yay!

lol @ queries over adam cockie's "pace and ball"

a) he is extremely quick so ummm....

b) "ball"? is that meant to read "ball handling"? or maybe just "balls" and they forgot the S?

We can only hope that WC coaches and management see the obvious and act on it, but I won't be holding my breath.

I'm not shocked that everyone thinks Priddis is overrated by that list. Haven't even read it yet however his lack of flair and reputation round these parts, it's just part of the process to abuse Priddis

By the way, congratulations to Priddis. Should win his first B&F this year

Ah actually I think you will find Cockie wasn't drafted before we picked him up because of his lack of pace (and height had a little to do with it too I believe)

Hmmm reading those assessments made me feel like the author was being a bit too positive - we didn't sound like a wooden spoon team overall. Just a general feel I got.

And love how Adam Selwood didn't get a dressing down for his disposal. The worst of the lot IMO, shocking kicking and decision making going into the forward fifty for a senior player...particularly when the article praises him for playing a more creative role. Not the guy I want in an attacking midfield role, especially now that Scooter has shown he can be damaging going the other way.

I disagree with the following:

Hams: has not played well enough to be elevated.

Oakley-Nichols: Not worth keeping.

Priddis: was not a 'stand-out' season.

Weedon: thought the review was a little harsh actually.

Disagree with these two, especially the first one. That's crazy talk!

Hams has been great for our forward line, stats aside (which have improved considerably over the season anyway, kicking more goals etc) he has been invaluable to our forward line with the pressure he brings and his sweet left foot passes into the 50.

We'd be insane not to elevate him ASAP.

JON is a wildcard on our list for me and after the improvement I have seen in his game late in the WAFL season I think he deserves another year to show what he can offer. The perfect type of player to have on the rookie list, compared to vanilla mids like Mzungu who wouldn't offer anything we don't already have. JON could be a player, worth a punt.

hams was afind. stats are evidence of Priddis' dominance- als hos obvious work.

But coming for masto this is not unexpected comment.

Let's hope our footy department have copies of this list assessment and read it before they offer Hansen, Nicoski, Lynch aned Bones 3 year extensions..

:thumbsu:

I've said this a million times but if Hams was black everyone would be drooling.

We should keep JON for at least another year. Really needs a full preseason.

no doubt Hams has been decent. but i think he will need to do more. alot of west coast players remind me of Paul Symmond/John Wooden. all capable players when we were shite. but long term, not really an option.
