Thoughts on changes we will make to our current llst?

Delist:
Callan, Spencer, Reynolds(rookie).

Possible Trade Bait:
Playfair, Gardiner (Delist if no interest)
Byrnes, Tenace (Keep if nothing suitable)

Rookie Promotions:
Grima, (Not sure on the Lonegan situation... Is he able to stay a rookie another year?)

*Tom Harley may be Eligable for Veterans list. will be 30 july nxt year?

This will free up 4 spots on senior list (depending on lonergan).

likely draft selections: 17, 35, 51, 67
Hopefully trade bait can attract some interest and land us with an extra pick or two

Unfortunately Callan will never play for the seniors due to a verbal stoush with some club officials a couple of seasons back.

He is a gutsy player but has poor disposal. Won't be a massive loss if we cut him loose.

Admit he has been unlucky. but having managed 15 games in 5 years and none this year, think its time to move him on.

Agreed. Playfair may appeal to someone like the dogs, woundn't expect more than a swapping of low picks like they did with McDougal. eg our 4th round and playfair for there 3rd round.

I think byrnes and Tenance my attract someone like Freo, Melb or even Carl who may look to inject some pace in there midfield. Both players are young and could be looking at sercuring a more permant spot in a senior team. With our current midfiled as strong as it is and the likes of Prismall, Djerrkura, davenport and of course Selwood all coming on strong. Think they may move on for a 3rd or even 2nd round pick at one of these clubs

I think you will find that was widely miss understood. Where someone has taken words out of a sentence and turned it around the other way. If it was the case callan would have left the club.

The only reason he will leave is because he wants more opportunities elsewhere.

To be fair we really need to keep either Sam Hunt or Playfair on our list. Delisting all of our tall defenders really isn't putting us in a good position if injuries kick in.

He is at the moment but we are talking next year and another pre-season.Lets not forget that last year he was showing much more than Playfair,is certainly a better player than S.Hunt.

I think we have seen many times that VFL and AFL are miles apart. Not trying to create a arguement or whatever, but i really just don't rate lonners. I think the best option for him would to come on as a VFL listed player and try get back onto the list in a year or twos time. Personally i like sam hunt. He creates a lot of run and his disposal is pretty good to.

He doesn't need to just yet. He still can finish out the vfl finals series and have a big pre season. He was starting to show great signs b4 he got injured.

Cheers for that. Wasn't 100% on how lonners situation worked. Will be interesting to see what happens there. Is a real credit to him to have gotten back on the track. I get the feeling if he shows the club he has past the demons of his injury and is as hungry as ever to get a spot in the seniors. We'll promote him.

Yeah thought about this one. His name was thrown about last year as a possible trade. He has had a good consistant year so would like to keep him. is only 23 and past the 100 game mark now. Having said that, we would definately get more for him now than last year and i've the right trade came up

Reckon any of Carl, Melb, Rich, or Ess would be keen ??? Second rounder?

Possibly for the right price. If we could nab a Melbournes 2nd round priority pick or carltons then we would. Other then that im happy to have him in our 22.

You use that injury sentiment stuff for guys like Tom Lonergan. Reynolds will be delisted. It's unfortunate, but he had his chance.

The dogs have enough average talls? The dogs don't have enough talls period. I think you should take what you can get and not to say that it should be Hank but your list needs a serious injection of height.

If you draft anyone under 6'3" this year I'd be seriously disappointed in your recruitment team.

In fact we have approx 15 players on our list 190cm or over.
I'll break it down further for you.
We have recruited a number of talls over the past couple of years. (Everitt, Williams are the most prominent)
We have about 5 who are developing, either in the seniors or at Werribee.
Roughly 4 in the seniors playing most weeks (generally as tall defenders)
We have 6 who are either past it or no good.
As I said earlier, we wont go for a Henry Playfair type, we have enough of them.
We need a key forward of quality and some more hard tackling, physical mid/small players and get away from team of flankers that we have become.

You need your boys to hit the gym, alot.

It's all good having talls and so forth but if they're gona snap like twiggs
then it won't matter.

Need to get them on the 'special juice' that West Coast used in the 90's
