Well that's it apart from the Rookies. BB has sined a one year deal and WCE wont take part in the pre~season draft.

I must say that a one year deal does not show a lot of confidence and I would guess that BB was hanging out for a two year deal with Scotty an option if he said no.

Freo also will not participate so Scotty will not play WA AFL next year and is tipped to be a TV boundary rider (close to the pie trolley :D)

Why commit long-term to a player that no other club would touch?

What if a McDougall, Hansen, Gaspar or even Gardiner shine up forward next season and we're stuck with Wilson because he has a two year contract.
I mean surely the only reason Greg 'The General' Harding wasn't de-listed was because of his two year contract. Now we have a useless player taking a spot that could have been used for another draftee.

I hope you're right about Scotty being a boundry rider. He'd be perfect for that sort of role.
Although if he were to do a Eagle's match, there's probably a good chance that he'd heckle Willow while shooting for goal.

I don't mind putting players on 1 year contracts. Wilson showed last year that he was capable of making the grade to AFL level and deserved another year. In 2002 it's up to him to prove that he can continue on and hold his position. With long 3 year contracts players become relaxed because they know they are secure and have a cosy pay packet coming in.

I doubt it, he's not that sorta guy, and he also got along pretty well with Wilson i think.

I also heard that Freo are not going to participate in the draft so would that mean that the Francis deal is off?

they aren't participating, as such. they know who they're taking and will not participate more than taking Francis with the #1 pick.

Totally disagree on Wilson only getting one year. He has (imo) at least 2 years in him, and with a season's experience behind him, we will see improvement next year.

Looking into my crystal ball regarding Wilson............

* Worsfold will give him a fair go
* Worsfold will keep him on the field as much as possible
* Worsfold will and already has (in The West) shown some confidence in him, which in turn will see the players showing more confidence in him and actually pass to him on a more regular basis
* He'll maintain his 60+% conversion rate, which, when given more opportunity, will result in more than the 40 he got this year.
* He'll become a far more valued part of the team.

and of course, all his 'knockers' will change their minds.

Oh, nearly forgot, he'll get a Coleman in 2002........

Ok, so I may ( ;) ) have gone too far there, but you get my point - we WILL see improvement.
