I am interested in who our best wingmen are (taking into account Walsh and Cerra are playing in the centre square).

I would say after round 7 it’s O’Brien and Carroll - yes on the strength of his debut - ahead of Newnes, Setterfield, Philp and Williamson (though I would like to see how Philp and Williamson go in this role).

Might be an unpopular opinion but I would love to see a fit Cuningham in the 22 in Owies’ spot, and pushing up to high half forward and wing. Has speed, good kick too.
Did you watch the game yesterday? Owies 8 tackles, 6 within 50,two goals, missed out on two frees when sat on twice withing 20 metres? Hard at it all day. Owies is doing exactly what Voss wants of a small forward, no show pony, hard at it, chips in with one or two, 2nd highest goal assist in the league. That's what the position is all about, and he nails it.

Both McGovern's on your list talent wise is amazing. But both are looking like being incredibly injury prone. Mitch is an untapped talent who has never been able to get to any great heights due to injuries and being played as a forward for a lot of it IMO. Jeremy is one of the best key defenders in the league and has proven it however is slumping into a trend of constant injuries.

There are a few mature aged players there you would consider but a lot of them are starting to crack up. Would have to wonder if they were to come good.

Geez Riccardi is wasted at GWS...
Really hope we are looking at him, kicked 5 in first quarter in the VFL...
Would be cheap and can play forward or back...

Leek Aleer looks impressive also, he's a monster...
Pretty sure he re-signed last year with GWS when he was rumoured to be coming to Vic

Weagles are in a rebuild as of today. They will be wanting draft picks to secure points as they desperately need top end talent.

They also have NO money, their salary cap is FULL…

They will be looking to offload $$$$ at the end of year…

My mail as of an hour ago is players and their mangers are expecting offers from Melb clubs to get out of there while still under contract…

Who do we want???? The Gov boys playing together would be nice!!!!
No one. Please do not recruit players from bottom clubs. The ones the weagles let go will be let go for a reason

Thought Owies had a 8 out of 10 game. Very, very good.

How's big Josh Cripps coming along? We need another big fella on the list you think

I'd pass...
He seems to be getting better, but barely VFL level quality, same with Leiu...
Much better prospects talked about on here...

Hmmm...

Richmond recruited Prestia from GC. Did they let him go for a reason?
Melbourne recruited May from GC. Did they let him go for a reason?
Collingwood recruited Leigh Brown from North. Did they let him go for a reason?
Melbourne recruited Lever from Adelaide, the season before they won the spoon. Did they let him go for a reason?
Hawthorn recruited Lake from WB, and Burgoyne from Port, when both WB and Port were bottom 4. Did they let both players go for a reason?

I think my point should be fairly clear; it really doesn't matter where the players come from. Blanket rules are silly.

As of current season form players in trouble:

1. Setterfield
2. Williamson
3. Marchbank
4. Fogarty
5. Parks
6. Cottrell
7. Boyd
8. Dow

Retirement:
1. Curnow

Some of those guys might have a small amount of currency to bottom teams.

As much as I like Cunners, would be looking to move him to the rookie list until he does a Bam Bam. Despite probably moving in the right direction, you look to move philp or honey to the rookie list for year if out of contract just to allow list flexibility.

Won't be hard to clear space for the draft/trade period.

Probably 800k-1.2mil worth of salary there.

Perhaps take 4 at the ND (two best talls and two best ultra fast pressure players), look to find a FA KPD and a second ruck in their late 20s.

Like when we let Henderson and Tuohy go, to progress our rebuild?

Clubs rebuilding, let go of players with currency, who won’t be there for the next era of success.

We need a ban on recruiting players from Geelong...

I think you’re being very conservative with your $$$$ there. Setters and Marchy both were recruited from GWS with strong interest from other clubs and high expectations, they aren’t young, I’d be surprised if they are under $300,000, same as Curnow.

Dow is also on his second AFL contract and would have signed based on potential, I think a list of 9 players would be closer to the $1.5M plus.

Would rather give Gov away for free and bank the $500,000 or so he’s on, regardless of talent, he can’t get on the park.

Always better to be conservative with salaries but I suspect you're correct.

The only issues with Owies is more of a team thing. We often kick to him on the lead, but because he's so small and not overly fast he can't get his arms out or separation to take the mark despite being in front.

This is a problem because the Roos would then win the ball back and commence the rebound. It's a testament to his work rate that he's able to present options like this, but really it needs to be Charlie/McKay/Martin leading up to be that link man.

Anyone know how long Dow has left on his contract?
I get the feeling he will request to be traded at the end of the season for more AFL opportunities. This is only my thoughts and I hope he doesn't as I still feel he could be a jet. I think I heard Richmond were keen last year or year before.

Ends this year

We'd want Weagles to get the spoon, as he'd then be less likely to just walk out. That would open up a trade opportunity. However, if he can't break into the side, we're not going to get a lot for him.
