There's the WAFL guy I mentioned.

Balyn O'Brien is a smart choice too. But I still think we should trial a midfielder.
Not much written about Zadow, nor footage of him playing. Kicked a few goals this year with several 2-3 goal/game outings. He's 21 so not bottom age.

O'Brien seems like a Tom Jonas, reliable mid-tall defender type. Good to have one on the list.

I agree wholeheartedly that we're a developing midfielder short, but maybe they have a lot of confidence in what's coming (Cochrane, Pilot, Salopek) as being able to fill that role in future years.

There's a bit of video of Zadow on YouTube, made goal of the week contender in the WAFL a couple of times.

Yep looks like a mid defender/back flanker. Thatd fit the mould of what we'd want. 2x small forward types, 2x back flanker types on the train on list. That'd seem about right.

Balyn sounds good on paper. How did a kid that managed to play a handful of SANFL senior games in his draft year not get picked? Be interested to see and hear more about him.

So does this confirm 3 train ons are Jayden, Balyn and Mitch?

Given Rome is there today, does that mean Jez MClennan was given the no despite being at training last week?
I would think that Rome and McLennan could train with the Power boys without requiring extra permission because they are already aligned with us as SANFL contracted players. They did last pre-season when we had Watkins and Lai vying for the last spot.

I reckon we should find 1 more key forward to develop.

The SANFL side could end up with Lord, Moss (might be thrown forward because of Marshall going back) and Soldo (fwd/ruck in tandem with Visentini) as its key forwards. Looks poor to me.

There's a small part of me that wants DBJ to go back given our current small forward stocks, plus Stephenson potentially.

I really liked him as a lockdown defender, my issue with him was is ball use. Just keep him away from kicking the ball as much as possible nad I think he'll still be our best lockdown defender.
Yet despite this he is on of our more reliable set shots

I’ve been thinking the same especially with an injury prone Marshall and Lukosius coming off such an interrupted year. Waiting for Cochrane and Pilot is probably also not a good enough reason not to have an extra tall forward on the list.

Ramm is your Andrews type.
Want to see more of Moss and Walsh as both have AFL potential in my opinion.
Not sure about Walsh, I’d say this might be his last year if he doesn’t improve.
Ramm definitely looks to have some future, unfortunately we have sat on our hands for too long about getting a solid defender.
Has killed us in big games.

Any Intel on Mitch Zadow?
Only thing I could find was that he was a half forward.
East Fremantle goalsneak Mitch Zadow was rewarded for his breakout WAFL season with a train-on opportunity with Port Adelaide. The 21-year-old booted 18 goals in 14 senior appearances for the Sharks last season including a dozen in his last six games.

If anyone goes forward so Marshall can go back it would be Walsh who was a forward (mainly) when drafted.

Apparently Walsh on the whiteboard the other week was still in the backline group so I'm assuming Moss might be making the switch.

Yeah i reckon the theory might be to have Dante, Whitlock, Lord and Moss competing for the third tall/back-up ruck spot behind Mitch and Luko.

I imagine that's why Todd is being trialled down back, too. Because he's not a back-up ruck and if Mitch and Luko are fit he's out of a spot. He's basically first change for one of the KPF slots or in the SANFL.

Aren't there any state league smalls kicking 2 goals a game?

Josh Hone from Sturt did but he's 29 years old in a team that dominated the year.

It's not as simple as it sounds any more.

4 of the 5 leading goalkickers in the sanfl this year were KPPs and 5th on the list kicked 34 goals.

Zadow's record is quite good for limited games.

In fact, that trend was true for the AFL, SANFL, VFL and WAFL. Goalscoring was dominated by the talls in all comps. I'm sure this wasn't historically true but it was for 2025. Dryer weather? Craftier talls? Even Jamie Elliot played tall last year.

If this is game evolution a 3 tall forward line would become the norm. I think some teams had 4 tall forwards in some games.

Hes pretty smooth, not sure about afl potential, but he does have some tricks
