Fritsch immediately would replace Murphy as the whipping boy.

Nah. Fritsch has more talent in his big toe than Murphy does in his whole body.

Fritsch kicked 114 goals across two seasons. Murphy has kicked 75 goals from 119 games across his 7 AFL seasons.

Usually when you bring in a premiership player you'd be looking at someone to help set standards, he wouldn’t bring that.

Meh. When you have a top 4 list - your standards are high.

When you have a top 4 list you want elite talent that can push you over the edge - even if it comes with some risk. Look at Dew at Hawthorn, Pyke at Brisbane, Stengle at Geelong.

If it got to pre season draft time he'd just tell other clubs he would sit out the year and that he's so homesick he'll only be able to function playing in SA.

When's the last time a team got fair compensation for a superstar moving? Almost never! Tim Kelly was the last fairly paid for Superstar

Trade deadline will approach and you'll end up accepting two firsts, one of them potentially top 10 and a fringe player.

Club list management are never in a million years giving up 3 first round picks for one player no matter how good they are.

Clubs are obsessed with pick swaps how often do you see two mid/ late firsts paid but with an early second coming back? Almost every trade period.

Current problem is that Port don’t even look like being able to put 2 firsts together.

Would absolutely look at Fritsch. Anything to free up Rachele and Rankine up ground as much as possible. Look at who we've played in that small fwd role otherwise this year - Fritsch is better than what Taylor, Pedlar or Murphy have been able to provide in that role so far.

Unless you had Burgess go over Oliver's numbers and really interrogated if you could eek some improvement out of him, it's a big no. Would much rather spend 1st round picks on literally any other available mid or half back.

This poster is just going through the 7 stages of grief we've been through over and over.
Let him go to the PSD!
Lol never happens.

People were saying that about matching RFA contracts until it did with Jezza Cameron. It’s rare, but it’ll happen here and there based on variable factors. Had GWS finished last and were looking at pick 2, they’d have not matched. Same as us had Cats lodged a Danger RFA contract.

Here we’ve got a young gun worth an early and a later first round pick, about $1.2m/year across the market and the acquiring club is presently sitting on 0 first rounders and isn’t looking to trade out a player that would get them one. This is the type of rare scenario that could throw up the outcome that we didn’t think was possible.

I'm not totally against it. Some of his efforts are like worst in the comp efforts.

He's a handy player but the other side to him likely isn't changing, he is what he is.

I'd prefer a fit McAdam, but he's done.

Yeah he would be

Adelaide receives: Oliver , 2025 2nd round (pay 60 % of deal)

Melbourne receives: 2026 1st, 2025 3rd (pay 40% of deal)

That 1st rounder after F/S and academy will be likely mid 20's which is unlikely to provide an A grade player

Average draft picks and cap space , that is it
Why would Melbourne do that? Have you ran that past the Melbourne board?

This also doesn’t change the fact we’d have Oliver until 2030, only player on our list extended beyond him would be Fogarty.

Jake Soligo
Josh Rachele
Josh Worrell

need give saints above and next 2 year first round minimum, just for saints to have look at it
Luckily for us NWM will choose Port if he wants to come home, and then we all get to sit back and look forward to a month of crazy Power and Saints supporters go at each other over the trade.

Melb board said yep they would

And Oliver is 27 , that takes him until 32 that is fine

28 next week.
I'd still take the punt

A draft pick that is likely late mid-late 20's after bid matching is rolling the dice on whether they are AFL standard

Or you get 4-5 years of Clarry with a Burgo fitness program again , just like when he was at his peak

No brainer, being safe has got us a grand total of 0 premierships in near on 3 decades

We think the Burgo fitness program can fix all his issues ??

Unlikely, the microscope on him here would be enormous.

Getting out of that toxic environment will be a huge step in itself

If he says he is committed to the move and wants to get back to peak fitness, I can see our group putting their arms around him and supporting him knowing full well what he brings onfield

Granted if he stuffs up once then he's out

I think he'll end up at the "reformed" boys home of the Cats personally.

We have had a hard on for Clarry for many years. We were in his ear last year but he chose Geelong.

He wanted a change and to get out of Melbourne, but I guess an hour drive down the road was better than a 45 minute plane flight.

If Brisbane get Draper we should try for Henry Smith, as that puts him down the pecking order for many years. We can offer him the number one ruck spot with a fading ROB, which might be better than waiting for Draper to retire.
Shouldn't cost us much more than a second round pick.

Cats now have Bazalenko, plus linked with Worpel

And Butters next year

No room for him there
