Talk of getting anything for Sholl is laughable - he walks for free is anyone wants him - pick 60

I'd be happy for him to land a new a club

Sam McClure stating Matthew Nicks p. rplayerink a good I thivately called Sam Draper and said he has a role for us big time if he comes here, (I don't believe it) but who knows?
Sholl is a contracted player and a good player. Late second round to the right club, imho.

The thing about all that reporting, is they can just say “sources have told us”, and as long as they can stand behind that they can twist the story however they like.

It may be true that Nicks might have said that, but that could have been at the start of the year, that could have been when we were only offering ROB 1-2 years and thought he might leave.

I think it’s just as likely that his manager has leaked this now because we have pulled our offer after signing ROB, and they want to drive his price up a bit elsewhere.

I’d be extremely surprised if we spent big $$$ on Draper after just re-signing ROB.
Most likely the manager trying to get more money out of Brisbane

Pies 30+
37 - Pendlebury
35 - Howe
34 - Sidebottom, Cox
32 - Elliott, Mihocek, Mitchell, Hoskin-Elliott
31 - Crisp, Membrey
30 - Cameron

Heck, that's half of their team!
How many of them usually burn us?
Pendles
Howe
Sidebottom
Elliot
Hoskin Elliot

The contracted player factor increasing value only really works if the player is in demand.

Sholl at this stage is barely a fringe player for us. He can only play one position and is likely behind Cook and Nankervis for that spot at the moment.

At this stage I’d say most clubs would have a take it or leave it approach to negotiations.

For me, what we need to avoid is allowing the best intercept defenders to get across and intercept mark. Sicily did it way too often on Friday night. And we’ve been exposed a couple of times across the year with that. If Howe plays, we need a plan to keep him accountable.

No chance mate.

Most recent trades for about pick 50

Harry Sharp for 49 and a third round upgrade
James Harmes for future 3rd
Tom Fullarton for pick 47
Tyler Brockman for 44 and 63
Jordon Sweet for pick 50
Jacob Koschitzke for pick 49
Jack Billings for future 3rd
Billy Frampton for future 3rd
Lachie Hunter for future 3rd
Jeremy Finlayson for future 3rd

Absolutely he's worth about 50

We have 3 x 3rd rounders. If sholl gained us another, could we bundle all 4 up for a couple of 2nds. Do we have any players that would be worth a 2nd rounder that we can afford to lose?. Maybe taylor who has been in the first team might be attractive to a rebuilding club. If we coukd get a bunch of 2nds, this draft where teams want points, it might get us a 1st rounder which we could use if we were to try for bailey. This might be the draft to get creative with so many clubs needing points

Be realistic, 4 x 3rd rounders (pick 50's after academy and F/S) might equate to one SR; no chance for 2 (clubs aren't stupid)

Everyone is going PlayStation mode, we can dream (we're not offloading Taylor also, zero chance)

I dunno though, this isn't the draft to chase one SR over say 3 or 4 third rounders (it's a weak draft)

Think clubs needing points. I am making the point that we should be looking at how we can generate enough points to grab one of the 1st rounders that will be up for grabs as that might open doors to trade in a bailey to improve us for the now

I'm all for Zac Bailey, if it's Zac Bailey we already have a FR now to trade, I'd give that in a heartbeat to make it happen 👍

But for pick trading, last two I can think of in the FR were:

2024 Dons traded Pick 9 for 28, 40, 46, 54 and a F1 from Dees

2023 GC traded 4, 46, 51 for 10, 17, F1

every club will be going hard for them, we'd have to beat the other clubs not needing points too, to get a FR off GC - have the points (say 4xthird rounders) + a Future FR to get a mid-late FR this year?

You need list spots for the draft picks you are taking to the draft.

Benchmarking previous pick trading is quite irrelevant though. Starting this year the new Draft Value Index materially changes points value. In summary, as most footy fans can relate to, it devalues second and mainly third round picks values relative to first rounders

Sholl should never be behind Cook. He is twice the player. Nankervis isnt setting the world on fire in the SANFL either. Last week he had 12 touches and one tackle. Sholl 17 and 5 tackles.

But we’ve picked him ahead of Sholl to spend some time on the wing, so clearly we do have Cook ahead.

Sholl is the kind of player who impacts the game by getting his hands on it a lot, 17 touches at SANFL level is simply not enough for a 25 year old. I like Sholl and at the start of the year I thought he was best 22 and a really valuable player, but I think he’s pretty limited and one dimensional as a footballer.

Sholl is a decent depth player who has been forced out by Isaac Cumming who is much better defensively.

Definitely, I don’t think he’s a bad player or anything, but depth players don’t attract anything more than a third rounder at best generally speaking.
