Had a BOG as ruck in Box Hill’s last game too, it looks like

I’d take Heath too, but Ramsden would be my first preference

The other issue with Draper is that his only real trait was athleticism. He's now done an Achilles. He doesn't have much to fall back on when his athleticism weakens. Poor ruck skills and fairly average around the ground

Milera is barely offering little more than a rookie is.
Getting 6 kicks a game as an offensive HBF who's meant to be rebounding out of half back with his dazzling run and skill, it's not happening.
I really hope he can lift his output as the year goes on and he gets more confidence in his body and game
Who told you his role was offensive half back? What are Hinge and Laird doing? All our defenders have to be dazzling run and skill? Go back and take a look at the opposition small forwards stats this year. Has yet to be beaten.

Name one of our defenders who are attacking half backs.

Milera is meant to be there for the exact same role that Nasiah plays. He's just awful at it.

Did we panic and up our offer after that reporting he would stay?
The minute he did his ankle I would have pulled any offer

And that's another thing that happens regularly at the club, our senior guys get the easy roles / opponent.

This week we are asking who will stand on the dangerous forwards in Elliott, McCreary, Hill.
None of Laird or Milera's names are getting put up

CF will provide soft target names as well - knowing we utilise Max and Wozza

Rowe saying Crows have offered NWM 7 years and he'd be the highest paid player at the Crows.
If true, I like it as it shows we are serious and if he intends to stay at St Kilda or move to port, his agent can use our offer to hold them over a barrel. At least we have our hat in the ring if this is accurate what Rowe is saying

Hinge is certainly an attacking half-back who takes the game on as a priority. He doesn't get the amount of ball and score involvements etc. that NWM does either. Some of that is definitely gameplan as the Saints half backs get more of the ball than anyone in our team regardless of position, the rest is just that NWM is elite and our half backs are not.

Milera I think ideally would offer more offensive drive than he does, but defensively he's been pretty solid and has overall been better than I think most people expected this year and has vindicated his selection. Gets way more negativity on here than is justified by what has happened on the field.

It would be fair enough too. On par with TT, Rankine, Dawson.

Edit - it’s a bummer he was right under our nose and somehow we didn’t value him correctly before the draft

Wrong in an interview after the draft, Hamish said if Rachele had been taken before our pick we had NWM next on our order

.K If this is our line of thinking why pull the trigger in offering him the three years so early? A little early in the season to be caving. I’d just be offering the two and evaluating how desperately we really need him end of the season rather than offering the three years now.
Except the club actually wants him, and wants him to stay. They clearly rate him and want him here long term.

The club clearly considers him best 18. They're not going to just let him walk.
They should let him walk.

There will be much cheaper and younger ways of getting the same or better output.

Need to free up cap space somehow so can't invest too heavily in players in the 18-25 zone on your list.

Overpaying non-difference makers like Milera is what cost us Charlie Cameron and Jake Lever previously. We're managing our cap and list significantly better now (eg lengthy pre-emptive deals for Rachele, Soligo) so I hope we make a smart decision here.
