I was a bit miffed that the thread on calling Essendon's bluff was locked on the first page after only two off-topic posts, and only being alive for two hours. Then the mod made a comment on-topic in the closing thread post, which is a bit rich.
 
Add me to the list. We are definitely becoming like the Carlton board. It sucks big time that legitimate threads being started, are then closed immediately because there is something similar already. Often a new fresh thread is better than a stale one that has so many posts its pointless going back over them all.

True, but surely the point of a forum is to discuss things openly, not push them off into the shadow. I concede that sometimes that's not appropriate, but on matters such as this that affect the wider group, it strikes me as reasonable to have a thread about it.
 
Yep, in 7 years of bigfooty I have never seen so many locked threads appearing on this board :(

That's because the thread was wrong and the thread-starter said just that when pointed out. As of then the thread was irrelevent.

I think our mods do a great job overall and we are certainly not becoming anything like the farce that is the Carlton board. There's no hierarchy and we can tackle Tugg, PHX and the rest on their opinions just like we would anyone else. However, I DO think that there has been an over reaction with locking threads lately. If a healthy discussion is taking place, then let it take place I say. Only when threads become completely irrelevant or abusive should they be locked. But that's just the way I'd do it.
 
Awsome 5 stars, my posts ussually never get read let alone my threads, im wrapped about the stars.:D:)
