All it does is take away valuable drinking time. At least it gives them a good destination for their trip away. At the clubs expense.

They take it semi-seriously, for an end of season trip.
However the main reason for the match is promotion of our great game in England.
The AFL has just resigned a 3/4 yr deal with the cricket body who run cricket at The Oval, for a match every year I think.
Usually get about 12,000 slightly drunk or worse expats who are desperate for a decent game of football live.
They may be also holding clinics for the BARFL.

Thought it was Dons v Tigers. But anyways. I wanna see the young 'uns, so I'll be watching.

How serious is the Freo team looking?

it'll be really good to see the up n coming players come through, 2 queries:

1. when is it and
2. what will be the chances that davidson plays in this coz im itching to see him play

???

It is on 11th October, about a week away
For Davidson, I guess no chance as his name is not on the afl.com.au article about the game

i was just looking on the afl webiste to see the article seba was mentioning of and saw the name bo nixon. now i know you guys have mixed raps on this kid but from the very limited bit i have seen of him, i liked what i saw. i was watching the willy vs frankston game quite some time ago, maybe bewtween rounds 6-12 of this years vfl season, and i saw a bit of play which although is patchy in my meomory, it remains something i will remember till i see him play a senior game for the maggies. the play was:

he got the ball, i dunno how, on centre wing on his own and kicked the ball to a pack situation on the right half forward flank. the ball wasnt marked came to ground, and then someone picked it up, got tackled and the ball came loose. josh mahoney, i think it was, ended up with it, about 52-53 metres out from goal, 10 metres off the boundary and handpassed it out to a running nixon. the play which eventuated after this can only be best described as very similar to akermanis's goal against adelaide where he ran towards goal dodged a player, ran a little inboard and kicked it from 35-40.

now this recollection is patchy but i do know for sure that nixon did keep running and that the goal was just like aker's.

my point: why get stevens if this guy can keep playing like that for 22 weeks of a season?

ive heard that its definetly going to be on foxfooty but not sure bout ch.9 telecasting it.

bux, burns, tazza and licca are not playing, making room for the rookies

Ahhh Bowman.

He could be anything.

Sometimes he will look like the classiest player on our list and other times he looks like a dud.

The club see's him as a midfielder in the future so they are currently playing him in the backline to teach him accountablilty.

He needs to work on his short kicks and his tendancy to drift in and out of games to have a decent shot in the firsts next year.
