What do we all think we should be aiming towards in the next few years come draft time? I think it is fair to say we have a bevvy of defenders and with Scharenberg to be the next backline Marshall among Frost, Langdon, Keefe, Williams, Brown, Sinclair etc. Grundy, Witts, Kennedy, Beams, Steele, Adams, Freeman, Pendles in the midfield. I think it's fair to say we should really start to build our forward line around Darcy Moore, Elliot and Karnesiz. Although Trav will play out his career at Collingwood. I think we need to look at another big hulking forward to recruit as a bottom ager and develop over the next 3 to 4 years while Reid and Trav are tracking to the 30 mark. Must leave Fasolo as a permanent forward. He is a better player then Gunston but clearly not coached or utilized as well. I think he should be played deep out the square. It seems to our forward line is starting to become a bit Richmond like with one key target and dribs and drabs in between. Can't compare to Goodes, Tippett, Buddy. Gunston, Roughhead, Bruest. Pavlich, Mayne, Ballentyne. No more trading for middle aged players like White or Young unless they add some serious consistent substance to our side ala Goddard, Nicky Dal. We seriously struggle forward of centre since 2011 while dominating or breaking even with forward 50 entries over that period.

We need another high quality Key forward, or Key back for the immediate, preferably a Key forward capable of 30-50+ goals a season to keep Ben Reid at CHB. Then i would feel we could challenge for top 4.

Sorry but I would take Gunston over Fasolo any day of the week. Not sure how Fas has been poorly coached. He has been injured for a long while now.

But agree we need to build our forwardline.

Brown will be back next year and so will Reid all of a sudden the KPP stocks look a lot stronger

I like Reid at CHB, Brown at FB and Frost as the third tall. That leaves us pretty bare up forward.

When Brown comes back, will he still be ahead of Frost and Keeffe in the pecking order?

I think a key power forward to replace Trav down the track is probably the biggest individual need. A shift towards better skill across half-back and through the middle is also required, although hopefully the club has already made moves in that direction with the recruitment of Scharenberg, Freeman, Kennedy and Broomhead (assuming the first two can ever get out on the park).

I think if Brown does come back, or we find another good tall defender, Keeffe can do the "Reid as a defender" role really well. He's been mauled by big forwards a couple of times this year and needs to work on his consistency, so a down day doesn't become a nightmare, but I rate what Keeffe
offers as a package.

Another specific need is a dangerous crumbing forward.

They are very hard to find and the Only Good ones in the Draft are Top 5 Picks

Young tall forward (Darcy Moore? He's averaging three contested marks per game at TAC Cup level)
Mature aged ruck in case of emergency to take the Ben Hudson (onfield) role. Obviously there are many, many rucks going around that are better than the names mentioned, but it's hard to tell who's on offer, etc.

Well Moore is a Great Get in a Area of Need. Moore will take about 3 seasons to have a Big Impact at AFL Level. Though you think he would play some AFL games next year and show some of the Big Potential he has

Agree - A mature age Ruckman who could still come in and Play AFL alongside Witts and/Or Grundy as Shown this year the 2 Young Rucks Form have been up and down.

In the long term that would be a very strong set up but we need Reid at CHF next year. Moore is the only young tall forward we have I would love it if we could get Weidamen next year. Then going forard we could have Reid, Brown and Frost in the backline and Moore, Cloke and Weidamen up forward

Angus Litherland is out of contract with the hawks at the end of this year, showing some real promise in the back line

Footskills, speed, another quality key forward/back

Would you like to work for Collingwood? you seem to have more idea then those nuffies

Reckon that is our best possible KPD combination but you're right it leaves us bare up front.

If we could shake someone loose for a fair trade and have one of White, Gault or one of the rucks develop to an AFL level 3rd tall that would be ideal.

Just not sure who comes available.

Lucky to be getting a game right now. Averaging like 0.5 goals a game and 3-4 tackles.

We need a crumbing forward or 2. We haven't had one since Krak, Leon and Dids. It's infuriating watching the ball hit the deck in our forward line and seeing the oppo defenders take it away. Forward pressure my arse. Give me blokes that can read the thing off the pack. Kennedys final quarter goal against GC showed how important this is.

Another key forward or 2. I think Reid has to be the man here. In his prime but seriously who knows if his body will ever hold up. We'll get Moore in the draft but he's going to take 3-4 years as from what I've seen he's not a brute like Cloke. Any tall forward free agents out there?

You can never have enough mids and I'm sure we'll bring one in via the draft this year.

Our defence is loaded but I think we still lack skill coming off half back. Hopefully Scharenberg will help in this regard as long as his body comes good. Langdon will continue to improve as well. I think Brown and Frost can be our 2 KPD with Keeffe playing the 3rd tall role, where he can better utilise his kicking skills. I think in time we'll see Williams push up to the midfield.

How does Angus Litherland improve us? He's a fringe player at a good club and doesn't fill a need. We already tried it with Young and look at how it's worked out for us to this point!
