Looking ahead

Looked at our next 7 matches and they are all very winable matches.. The toughest opposition in Richmond and Essendon are both at home...

Western Bulldogs (home) - should win
Geelong (away) - should win
Hawthorn (away) - should win
Melbourne (home) - should win
Carlton (away) - should win
Richmond (home) - good chance
Essendon (home) - good chance

If we win atleast 5, hopefully 6 or all 7 matches that puts us in a good position.

After 15 rds.
If win 5 - 9 wins 6 losses
If win 6 - 10 wins 5 losses
If win 7 - 11 wins 4 losses

I think it's fair to say that if we don't win 5, then we don't deserve a top 4 finish.

What are your thoughts?

Yes, all games are winnable but at the moment and we know the cliche - "one week at a time".

yes but from rds 16 to 22, we have it tough (2 trips to Perth, we play Collingwood, Port Adelaide etc....so the next 7 games are crucial.

Yes all seven are very winnable, I'm quietly confident we can win all of them (and I'll be travelling to see a couple of these matches!), as our last third of the H&A season is very tough.

I'll be conservative and say we will win 5/7 - and just hope KG doesnt say we are lay-down whatevers to get all 7!! [ which we are a chance of doing!!]

To be considered worthy contenders though - if we get to that stage we must back ourselves to win most of the last few seemingly tough games! - especially the showdown

Pride of SA, haven't you learned anything yet mate? Don't look too far ahead, with all this, "we should win 5, or 6 or 7 out of 7" or whatever.....

I know it's a reasonable run but let's not jinx anything, let's just say we have to start stringing some wins together in the middle part of the year and our schedule gives us an opportunity.

I'm forever the optimist regards the Crows but one thing i cringe at is one of us picking out games we should win weeks in advance

I'm with you and noddy on this one.

It started with all 22 games.

Now it's the next 7.

We've won 1 of our last 4 and have a long injury list to important players.

Let's concentrate on beating the Bullies, and worry about the next game when we've done that.

After all, that's why the old cliche "one game at a time" was invented.

Yes, and we could have won all of our matches so far, apart from injuries and innacurate kicking, we would be sitting very nicely up on the ladder. As our biggest loss is only 18 ponts, tells us even with imjuries etc, we are one of the top sides, as we have also played many of the other top sides. Remember we have only lost 1 match to a a team that finished below us last year.

Further to that, when I said we should aim to win all 22 matches, I never said we would, just thought that realistically we could, but won't. In every match this year we could have won, and have been in a position to win. Which means we are competitive enough to beat anyone.

Start by pumping the Bulldogs at home this week. One week at a time is all we can focus on. If we start thinking "we can win the next 7, no worrys" then we are probably in danger of actually loosing the next 7. Lets hope that the injuries start to turn and we can get our best 22 playing and giving us every possible chance to play the good footy we know we can.

You could argue that this part of your statement is reasonably accurate.
You could also argue that not losing to sides below you THIS year is more important than where they finished last year.

Nah what I was saying was that we have been in a position to win all our games but have blown opportunities, like kicking more goal etc. Injuries to our entire forward line except for Perrie don[t help either.

Now, I haven't seen as many of your games this year as I usually would, however, at least in the showdown, the scoreboard was not an accurate reflection of the game.
You did not lose because of inaccurate goalkicking like ok.crows said, nor did you lose because of the umpires.
You certainly did not lose because you had players missing and we had a full squad.
Sometimes you should just accept the fact that you lost because the other team was better than you on the day. Chances are they too had players missing, missed a few sitters, and had some umpiring decisions go against them.

IMO the Crows do have a good team, but not that much has changed from last year, thus no chance for an undefeated season.
Your defence can be stretched if you play a team that has a number of good talls, in particular if one of your talls is injured, as you do not have enough depth in your KPPs in the backline.
Your forward line sounds good on paper, but as yet unproven. Can it be consistently good all year round? Perhaps not. Hoping that they can be consistently good during the finals would be the best option.
If I may state the obvious, your midfield is still your strength.
Apart from the possible improvement to your forward line, not too dissimilar to last year.

Exactly, we badly need a win this week to get back in the winners circle again. Drop the Bullies game & the future weeks would become irrelevant as we would be truely pretenders. Let's not get ahead of ourselves as we have a lot of work to do if we are going to be a force come finals time. However, that is a long way off.

No use looking at the next 7 when we have to worry about the Bulldogs that will cop a lot of flack from the media this week. Concentrate on beating the Doggies, once that game is out of the way look to the next game.

I have to say that we MUST get some wins on the board if this year is to be as good as we hoped for.

Adelaide were outplayed by St Kilda and Port Adelaide, no doubt... but I don't think the same can be said in the last two weeks of Collingwood and Brisbane.

I agree, against St. Kilda and Port the scoreboard flattered us a fair bit. In Collingwood and Brisbane games we played well and lost the games we should have won. Brisbane won by 18 points curtesy of a couple of cheap goals in the last couple of minutes.

It is a worry that in the last 4 games our record is 1-3. We need to win a few to get back into the top 4.
