Wouldn't be surprised if we pick up both of the O'Keefe's just to add to the already ridiculous "name game" that is Geelong... especially seeing as we have already delisted a Simpson ;)

Re: Looking For Another Chance...

Knew about McKenna, Weadon and Dan O'Keefe, but not about Guy O'Keefe and Bryce Carroll. Any information on those two?

Guy O'Keefe is the one from the Dogs, news of him joining us for a pre-season came out last week and was discussed in a specific thread about him.

The news of Daniel O'Keefe only came out today.
He's a local lad who Sydney took in the first round of the 2006 super draft.
He's a very talented half-forward/midfielder who has been destroyed by injuries (groin/OP mainly, i believe).
The talent is there to be on an AFL list, it's just whether the club believes he's over his injury woes.

Bryce Carroll is a skinny medium forward with excellent athleticism (really quick and a very, very good leap) and the ability to kick a goal.
He has obvious talent and is a good kid, but one who has developed late and hasn't yet matured physically or found the endurance required to make it.
Basically, he's extremely raw.

I know we were pretty keen on him going into last years rookie draft however Essendon swooped early and took him before we had a selection.

If the club are confident that he has the scope to build an AFL body (and an AFL level tank) then he'd definitely be worth a shot on the rookie list.

Its interesting that GOK and DOK are half forward mids. Add Carroll and we seem to be looking to add some meat to our forward stocks from pre-drafted players.

For those that have seen them are the O Keeffe's similar? Whats the chances of us getting more than one of these boys as Rookies?

Well I'd say we wouldn't take them all (obviously). We've only got 4 rookie spots anyway. I'd say forward planning is a good idea. If you assume that Gillies, Laidler will come on, then the defence is fairly well covered (even when the awesome Scarlo retires) the mids are fairly covered at least in the short term (unless the expansion clubs change that) and yet the forward line, where we have awesome players, but admittedly ageing, and not a lot coming through save for Mitch Brown, that'd be a good area to address. Obviously DOJ ain't going to replace Moons at CHF :p but I'm just saying that adding to our forward stocks in general, regardless of height, could be a decent idea.

Great summary :thumbsu:

I have also heard the wraps on DOJ and wouldn't be against giving him a rookie spot.
