Omen 1
When Geelong won in 07 and 09 they did the double with Melbourne Storm (let's ignore that salary cap matter for now).

Much as I was disappointed with the Storm's loss I'm kinda glad as it could be a good omen for us.

Omen 2
the GF is being played in October. Our last 2 flags have been won in October not Sept.

Omen 3
Our head to head GF record with Geelong is 3-2 their way. Something tells me that we'll balance the ledger this Saturday.

Anyone else have any omens (silly or otherwise)

I am glad you made this thread.I like reading what people come up with.I was the same with the storm..I don't even follow rugby.

Heres something..

74 or 5 years ago i can't remember but we were going for back to back premierships and lost to geelong..

I don't believe it will repeat.Everyone was saying last year we'd lose to st.kilda because the last time we drew with a team north melbourne beat us the following week. And look what happened.

Oh and this is really clutching but here goes..

Nick maxwell has suffered the same injury as darren millane in 90 with his fractured thumb, the same time of the year.

Our omen were bruised battered but were still there and all were going to here this week is " I think it's to big a task" our omen is the heart beating our omen is a will to survive the same will that kept us from throwing gf1 last year and got us over against the hawks maybe not beating the cats all year is the secret to success having them think another bruise free game will be the go next week! Our omen is as long as we are there we can do it!

And for the stat hungry my omen is not beating/dominating them in h and a games this year!

My omen is simple

We have been a shadow of ourselves these last few weeks but still managed to beat the 3rd and 4th teams. Should the team finally manage to get the whole crew together and firing a lot of people will be laughing out of the other side of their face.

A moth sat on a collingwood beanie on friday night out of all of the 87 thousand it decided to sit on a Pies Beanie!

Didn't the Pies beat the Blues and Kangas twice during Home and Away Season and then lose the GF? Could the tables turn this year on Geelong having lost to them twice this year?

Last year, in our last game in September, we played an ordinary game, got rid of the rust,
scraped through to the chance to win a GF the following week, by kicking 68 points.

Next week, the first Saturday in October, we came out and blitzed the Grand Final.

In Jollys first year with Sydney he played in a premiership and he played in a premiership in his first season with Collingwood. His second year at Sydney he played in a losing GF after being in doubt all week.
A good one is that in 2005 Sydney were behind the whole game against Geelong and came back to win by 3 points with a very late goal, same margin we won by on Friday.

SP Pies THRASHED Carlton 3 times in '70, twice in the home and away and then again in the first final only to lose in the GF.

NOTHING is a given in the finals NOTHING

Not necessarily an omen, but the last 2 times (Geelong 07 and Port 04) a team has won a Prelim by under 7pts they've gone on to win the Premiership.

and Sydney in 05, beating Geelong by three points.

There's still the one that for the past 10 years or so, the team that won the last encounter between the two Grand Finalists, has lost the Grand Final. You could say that Collingwood kinda broke that trend last year, but technically it still goes on because our win was nullified with the draw, then we won the Grand Final.

I was going to start a thread on the Melbourne Storm thing last week. Noticed that Geelong seems to mirror Storm, so maybe a good sign.

But in all honesty, it's not a good sign that we're looking for signs. Deep down, many of us know we're most likely gong to lose on Saturday, but naturally we don't want to believe or accept it.

As a team, we just look spent. Geelong looks like they could play another 10 weeks. We look like we're waiting for Mad Monday.

I keep waiting for the form to turn each week, but it never seems to come. I REALLY want to see the same frenetic pace that I saw in last years Prelim. It doesn't look like it's there.

dammit people. We'll win because we are good enough.I believe if we play to our absolute best we will win again.Call it stupidity, call it one eyed, call it blind faith but i just know maxy isnt going to just let the cats win.He wants to prove them wrong for rejecting him and i hope he does.Come on the pies. The negativity of some supporters is really getting me down..I might stay away if its going to be like this all week. You either go for collingwood or you dont.Simple. Which one is it?

We will win because we will. We will play better football and kick the bigger score.

No omens
No superstitions
No voodoo, mumbo jumbo
No utter bullshit

We will win! It's that simple, we will win!!
