I wanted a thread on as fans how losing games makes you feel.

This is not about the changes the team needs to make, or who played its just about us as fans. Maybe its just a pointless rant, but how do you all find losing, i bloody hate it, it ruins my week.

This is what i find makes it so hard

* i hear about it from everyone, like i coached or played i have to have the loss rubbed it, but not just people who support the team we lost too, clubs whos side havent won for weeks rub it in, whats with that

* i know we all talk changes but some fans go from thinking how do we fit our amazng squad into 22 to wanting everyone dropped and questioning depth

* opposition fans come crawling out of the woodwork telling us that the side is pretenders, we havent beaten anyone somehow fluked our way to top 4

* tippett gets bagged, if we win we use him too much, if we lose we threw money at a hack

* cola- we win its cos of this we lose we wasted it and our list is poor

Actually most of those are just other fans.

I hate the media jump on and off too.

But i hate the feeling for the rest of the week, you feel down, you cant see them winning the next week, you feel negative it ruins the week, maybe i take it too seriously i dont know.

Anyone have any thoughts on losing weeks as a fan? How do you deal with it, what shits you off?

I think losing to good sides annoys me more than losing to poor sides at the moment given where the teams at.

For instance i know we will be top 4 and can win it anyway and wont win just cos we win next week, but i dont want another loss to a good team, beat hawthorn.

Dunno if its just me but i dont wanna watch any other footy games when we lose it's a weird feeling.

Agreed not watching now, cant be bothered tomorrow, dont know why per say

And im not as keen on monday night, love my footy shows in a row usually. But a loss makes them suck

I also hate that you arent allowed to mention free kicks or umpiring, injuries, ground it was played at etc or people think you are a bad sport

Just puts a dark cloud over my head especially straight after

Things I hate about losing:

1) Bigfooty flogs. Everyone outside of Bigfooty is fine (except that one time where I referred to Fremantle as the Bye, and we lost to them. Deserved absolutely everything I got there ;) )
2) The constant whinging about injuries. Every team has injuries. Fremantle had 3 ruckmen, McPharlin, Ibbotson etc out tonight and lost Suban, and they annihilated Port. Geelong have been missing players like Menzel, Podsiadly, Chapman, Simpson, McIntosh for big chunks of this year and were carrying a semi crippled Hawkins. Stop whinging about injuries, get better list management.
3) The inevitable overreactions (both positive and negative) from the media. 2 months ago Sydney were the best midfield in the competition, unbelievable workrate. Now we're washed up hacks. Neither was true, but they always tend to deal in extremes.

I don't like losing either (no surprises there), I guess I've gotten better over the years at focusing on things other than footy at least for a little while after a loss, it will drive you crazy if you let it get to you. I think the players feel worse to be honest.

Oh man, how could I forget.

My NUMBER ONE hate about losing:

Every single time we lose, some senior player comes out and makes various BS statements about how the work ethic wasn't good enough and how they will improve it and it won't happen again. Happened after Hawthorn, Port, Collingwood, Geelong #1, and it will happen tomorrow.

Its always interesting who they wheel out then and who get a little story about them during the week

Don't like it, but there were worse times when there never seemed like we had a win in sight. So I just accept most of them (there are some that will tip any sane person over the edge) and know we didn't turn up as a team (Collingwood match), beaten by the better team (both Geelong matches) or both (Port match).

Can tend to pick up on what the main talking point here will be out of loss before even logging into Big Footy as well (other than the normal stuff), example our midfield being the talking point out of our pass two losses. Other than that avoid the TV media and any match reports.

Usually get over it pretty quick.Move on to next week, try look for positives .
Wear the Premiership shirt to work Monday(under a jumper somedays :).
People at work generally not AFL fans but the few who are know not /care not to push my buttons.
Worse when NRL team loses Friday,Swans lose Saturday & it's your birthday Sunday :(

Cue Boomtown Rats

I hate it when a muppet from the team you just lost to comes on to your board and subtly trolls.

When you lose to Geelong in Geelong it's a bit disappointing but I still give the dog a kick when I think about losing to Port.

I agree entirely. They usually come on the board and tell us what a competitive team we are and how we will be back in no time and given that we have just lost to their mob it is actually highly irritating :p

So devastated for Shaw and the Swans footy club with the injuries they have had this year , I no u cant win Flags every year and we should be pretty happy with what the Swans have done in the last 10 years , its just devastating that we all no the list we had this year could go back to back and dame injuries to Shaw , AJ , Goodes , LRT , Reid , Jetta, Mattner have ment that 2013 might be just out of reach for the Flag , all them players are in our best 22 and none of them are just fringe players , u take 7 players out of any team and it will hurt. 2014 the back 7 will be able to do a full pre season together and good defences win Flags , AJ and Shaw back , Rampe is a gem will be in good stead. Full pre season to Rohan , Mitchell ect. 2014 looks pretty good to me , all though not fully throwing away this year but I still think winning the Flag is out of reach.

When the Swans lose I get into a really grumpy mood which feels like it's never going to lift. I really should learn, because the reality is it actually never lasts more than half a day.

The euphoria after last year's GF, on the other hand, made me feel all warm in the tummy for many, many months, and still hasn't died away completely.

Yes, that condescension is something totally unnecessary and not to mention highly uninsightful. But one could be forgiven for not wanting to go onto and oppositions board for fear of a red card for being too blunt. Other than an unashamed attempt at 'like gathering' I just can't see the motivation. :D

I take losses a lot better these days. I'm at my worst for the hour or two straight after the game. The next day I might be a little down but I'm generally a pretty optimistic person and I'm looking forward to the next game straight away.

I have a lot of faith in our boys. We're not done with just yet.
