Very disappointing effort by the bulldogs against an unmanned Bombers lineup. Very worried either don't have the material, the game plan, the structure or the intelligence to build a quality side. More to come.

We started well but couldn't put them away when we had the chance. Brown and others missed crucial 1st half set shots. Had most of 1st half play but Bombers hit lead on siren at the half.
They got a run run on in 3rd out to 6 goal lead, we couldn't stop them, out of the centre and in defence. Pegged them back to 2 goal lead at 3rd quarter. not sure how close we got in last.

Yeah a frustrating loss, but an improved performance on last week!!! There were some positives to come out of it, like the performance of Skipper and the continued improvement of Murphy.
A lot of talk about the dons being undermanned, but the same can be said about the bulldogs! When u take the likes of Grant, Kretiuk, Harrison and Robbins out of the backline u havent got much a chance!!

mmm and Harris playing ressies!

Croft didnt do too bad at all considering Lloyd kicked 4 goals 3 i think?! Gilbee has to replace Cross, Harris for Hargrave and Faulkener should come in for Alvey!! Hopefully Kritters will be back next week!
I thought K-MAC played great early on, but then faded as the game went on, but he did enough to keep his in the team!

and a midget backline in most cases

Our backs were taller then their forwards. I don't think that was a problem, Hille kicked 4 but that wasn't because he was outmarking a smaller guy but because he was getting away from Darcy. If we had height problems down back the MacDaddy wouldn't have been on Harvey

And up forward we had 2 giants in Bandy and Skipper, but they both roamed around half forward not real close to the goals

I dont think we were disappointing at all, we were undermanned as well.Yeah we probably should have one, and if it wasnt for the first 15mins or whatever of the 3rd qtr we would have, but it was a good learning experience for our younge guys.
Skip impressed me a lot, and im so glad that he playes really well, and continued his form from werribee, hopefully he keeps it up for the rest of the year.

Dissapointing loss, but at least this week they had a bit more of a dip. Losing isn't any good and no one wants to but I'd much prefer to lose in that situation then like what happened last week.

Darcy's form is hurting us atm, he needed to show a bit more accountability and pay a bit more respect to his opponent. Senior members of the team of Darcy's stature need to set the example in that respect. Needs to asert himself on the game a bit more.

The irony of the game last night was that when we won the ball in a contested situation in the F50, they showed the physicality etc that Rohde wants but when they ball was kicked to the top of the square (the team orientated disciplined thing to do) there was no one there! It happened at least 4 times.

Skipper was good took a few marks and did very well at ground level. Looked like he was up tp the pace of the top level.

McGuinness was very impressive early but unfortunately was on the recieving end of Essendon's watch winning momemtum swing. Didn't see much of Cross, did he have a run in the middle at one stage?

Shaggy was an improver from last week but still is a bit of a worry, we need him to step up a bit. He doesn't look confident with the footy, rushes his disposal and seems to not be getting to the contests as much as he was last year. I hope that bleach hasn't seeped into and ruined his brain!

Bubba was good, kicked a few from the back line and was pretty hard at it. Provided some run and did his usual job. Murphy was very good early but dropped off a tad as the game wore on. His overhead marking and ability to read the play has improved greatly - probably the only player this year to show any sign of improvement.

Sam Power looks a little nervous down back, got a few touches but didn't really do much. I wouldn't mind one of the smaller blokes being sent to Weribee for a bit at the expense of Harris to allow us to get some more senior experience for the bigger blokes.

Browny isn't doing much wrong and it would be a bit harsh to really criticise him but here are a few things any way: second efforts, sometimes he just stops when the ball doesn't bounce his way, he needs to improve in that respect (a la Mitch hahn who did it all night) and he needs to convert better! We are still getting a pretty good return per game from him but he is missing some pretty easy shots at crucial stages of the game. The sort that if he kicks them puts the game away or breaks the oppostition spirit. That being said he kicked some absolute pearlers, but we wnat him to kick the easy ones to.

Hahn was up to his usual standard just went in hard all night, kept plugging away and ended up doing pretty well. One crucial slip caused a turn over which resulted in an Essendon goal but aprt from that he was a pretty solid contributer.

We had some pretty good signs last night but the other side of the coin at 1 win 3losses suggest things are pretty grim. Terry Wallace said on the radio after the game that 'for us the Dogs win matches everyone has to be playing at the top of their game,' Unfortunately for us there a few blokes that are out of sorts and some serious questions that need to be addressed.

I didnt see alot of the first qtr as i was running late to the game but what i heard was that we played pretty well.It wasnt until about before half time where we just stopped and when essendon kicked all those goals we were pathetic as ive said beofre you cant give a team a 7/8 goal lead and expect to win the game. They came back well but you couldnt have expected them to win after losing by that many goals.Hopefully we put a better showing in bris if not win at least be competive.

Come on Doggies lift your game
