My sister in law's brother's cat went missing for 3 weeks or so. It seems that he'd jumped in the back of the telstra man's van when he'd been there doing repairs and it took him a while to find his way home. He'd obviously been fed by some well meaning neighbours as he was a bit dishevelled but okay.

Good luck max.
So you don't class him as your brother in law?

I dunno, is he?
I would have thought so but I'm not a lawyer.

I'm assuming his sister is the one married to your brother?

I wonder if Google can confirm this

If you're on facebook, join all your local area groups/chats. I see people looking for missing animals all the time on those chats and lots of them are found because other people spot them.

Yes that's what negligent owners say.
Its true they are roaming animals no matter what you think.
Its only been the last few years in my area the city council have cracked down on cats not allowed outside.

We have a 22Sq meter area for the cats, thanks for trying to call me negligent.

Friend of mine's cat went missing for a couple of days - out of character -

there were some apartments getting built across the road (a busy main road that the cat had no business crossing) but after a couple of days she had a feeling that her cat was in the building site - went over that night, calling out her name and then suddenly a muffled, quiet meow response

found her in cylinder pipe tube that was in the work site

-----------------

onto different species, we had a pet turtle when we were kids that ran away / disappeared from its outside pond - even had a cage on it so we have no idea how he got out, where he went

Well we've had a few reports of sightings. We've being going to the reported area after dark but so far still nothing. I'm beginning to wonder about peoples eyesight. But having said that, thanks anyway for trying i appreciate it.

Hi all. My buddy, a black and white cat disappeared on me on the 27th of Feb. I'm gutted, like I've lost a family member. I had him for nearly a year and he was full of character. Unfortunately, my partner let him out in the morning and when I got up to let him in and feed him he was gone. I've walked the neighbourhood, put up flyers and posters, my partner put him on fb. Alerted the nearest pounds. Now I feel so hopeless and feel I can't help him. Waiting and hoping he'll 'come back' is painful.

Have you guys experienced something similar? Anymore I can do?

Thanks for any advice or reassurance.

Sorry I didn't see this for a few days :(

1. I don't know where you live - but haul arse to every possible shelter he could be at. They get too many lost dogs to really be of much help on the phone. The reason I say haul arse is because, if he was found and taken to a shelter, he'd be right on the cusp of being available for adoption.

2. Jump on facebook - there are plenty of lost pet groups for each location. Dedicated lost pets groups, council pages etc - join all that you can find.

3. On one of the facebook groups there's a method refered to all the time, called the 3am walk.

"Displaced or scared cats will often remain in hiding and completely silent for most of the day and night. Even if it is close by and can here you, it can be unlikely that your cat will respond. Because of this, the best time to head outside and call him is between 3-4am. Your cat is most likely to respond and leave its hiding spot around this small window of quiet time. It only takes a couple of fence jumps to land streets away, so do your best to cover as many streets as you can. Hopefully your cat is only a house or two away, as they don't usually wander far.

It's also a good idea to ask neighbours if you or them can check sheds, yards, garages, and roof and wall spaces."

Ive had cats disappear for months and come back
A black Burmese used to head to the local primary school when we went off to high school
He would hang out and some kids would take him home and a few months later he would come back.
He ended up spending weeks at a mates house who didnt realise it was my cat
Then he came back and the mate sees him and says he was at our place a few months back

He was a free spirit

Never got him back.

Sorry. Ive had a similar experience awhile back now. Had a cat for four years in early to mid teens then she went missing once and she never returned. Shed go missing sometimes for a few days max usually returning stressed and hungry/with a injury (she was a fighter). Indoor cat, microshipped.

I once had a pet galah that disappeared for like 6+ months before turning up at the vets. It used to live in a cage but after a few years I thought **** it it's too cruel living a life in a cage I'm gonna risk letting her roam the yard and actually have some freedom, was fine for a few months before deciding to go walkabout. It could fly but not very far at all because it had a wing that was broken and permanently damaged. God knows what it did and how it survived for that time.

Sadly it got some stomach problem and died last year though.
