You could be onto something here Tockley, he's eligible to play this week under the long term injury list rules and according to club officials he was 4-5 weeks ahead of rehabilitation. I'd highly doubt Lucas running through the magoos.

If he's ready to go then play him.

We're not concerned with winning games atm so we may aswell get him match fit in the seniors especially with Lloyd missing this week.

Did we put him on the Long term injury list? I thought Atkinson was promoted for Davey; who was promoted for Lucas?

Champion centre-half forward, Scott Lucas, will return to the Bombers' line up to play Adelaide on Friday night if he gets through tomorrow morning’s training session. Coach, Matthew Knights, said Lucas has been meticulous in his rehabilitation and he has no hesitation in bringing the 248-game veteran straight back into the senior team.
“We have our last training session tomorrow and if he comes through with flying colours he will play on Friday night,” Knights said.
"The way he has attacked his rehabilitation has been excellent.

"His skin folds and his attention to detail for 10-weeks has been great so I have no hesitations in playing him but, if he pulls up a little tight or sore, we won't go with him."

Lucas suffered a Grade 3 tear of the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) in Round 1 against North Melbourne and was placed on the long-term injured list.

"It's important expectation isn’t too high as Scott has been out for a while," Knights said.

"But because of the way he has prepared and where he plays, he will be able to give us decent minutes compared to another other player returning and I expect him to play well."

Don't see what the rush is. A few games at Bendigo for match fitness would be the go......

After all isn't Knights big on fitness?

Knights is desperate to save face, the feeling I get is that he is struggling under the pressure. What happens when our best 22 is available and the side doesn't fire? I think he's better off leaving the team as is, this way he can hide behind the injury factor. By no means do I think the playing list is his fault, I'm just suggesting he will get a great deal of flak if we have our best 22 on the ground and there's no improvement. There are many Essendon supporters already calling for his scalp.

For some reason they held off promoting a rookie until Atkinson was finally promoted.

They would hold out promoting a rookie to the senior list until they are ready to use them in the seniors, so as not to waste the spot.

eg. Player A, a midfielder, gets promoted straight away even though there is no spot in the seniors for him just yet.
Player A's form tapers off while Player B a key defender comes on quickly. Some minor injuries and a suspension later and Player B is ready for senior selection... only Player A has his spot on the list.

Shut up tool, seriously... One of our best players is back this week and all some can do is continue to slag of the club. Bendigo don't play this week. Lucas will improve our side a fair bit.

How am I slagging off at the club?

Thank-you Captain Obvious, I know Bendigo do not play this week. I was suggesting that it wouldn't hurt if Lucas spent one more week out (He is coming back from a 8 week injury), then come back via Bendigo to re-gain match fitness.

What's the rush? The Donners posted on this earlier.....

Inclined to agree -- Knights said that he has been meticulous with his recovery. That implies to me that he is only considering Scotty because he IS very fit. He was 4 weeks ahead. There is only so much a run with bendigo can do -- senior players come straight in all the time
