Not going to have many positives this year lets take the take the glass half full with Dunstan he will get better every year for next 14 years

Just preparing people if he has an ordinary game come round 1, because if he does you can expect to hear the compete opposite of what's been posted in here lately.

But yeah I'd be surprised if he isn't at least a competent AFL player. If he does go past guys like Seb then what's that going to do to him? I'd assume it'll make him work even harder. Let's be honest we probably haven't had a lot of midfield competition compared to when guys like Steven were coming through so a ready made guy could be exactly what we need to get the best out of our youngsters.

Not sure if i'm in the minority but I love Rich as a player, no shame in what he is producing (when fit)

LUKE Dunstan is primed to debut in round one against Melbourne, according to St Kilda Senior Coach Alan Richardson.

Speaking to a 5,000-strong crowd at St Kilda’s Saints by the Bay community event on Monday, Richardson was full of praise for the South Australian teenager who has impressed in each of the pre-season games this summer with his work in the clinches.

“There will be some young players that will get some opportunity,” Richardson said.

“We are going to be really strong on the fact they have to earn that opportunity but so far many of the young blokes have been really impressive.”

“Luke Dunstan has been impressive running through the midfield. Barring mishap or injury I’d be surprised if he doesn’t play.”

I loved his game today. Great strength. Great at clearances in congestion, and while tackling. But so damn hard when tackling the opposition - Lennyesque, terrifying.

He's gotta get the 7 when Lenny finishes up.

Yeah I agree. This kid is tuff and hes only gonna get tougher.
Give him another pre season under his belt and Dunstan will be eating rocks and shitting out bricks.
The number 7 wont look out of place on him once Lenny the Great retires.

Id say he could if it was on ability alone . Only problem is he plays for st kilda and doesn't have a flamboyant haircut .

So early to make a call on that, but has shown thus far he has an appetite for the contest.
He's a chance if he keeps up the same level of intensity, looks like he'll be a real player of our future regardless.

I'm trying to think of a player he reminds of. And one example that comes to mind is Sam Mitchell of a couple of years. I'm not saying he'll be as good, but his style reminds me with his upright stance, head up looking for options, ability to snatch the ball in tight and throw it on the boot. He's good in traffic and fierce in a tackle.
