At the moment for next year with Robbo under an injury cloud, Holland to have retired and Neitz already retired, Juice is the only genuine goal kicking full forward on our seior list (Zomer on the rookie list could count). If you look at our other tall positions we have Miller and Bate at CHF and Rivers, Warnock, Carroll, Garland and Frawley down back, along with Martin and McNamara. In the ruck we have White, PJ, Jamar, Meesen and big Spencer on the rookie list.

What I'm saying is that it is definitely a position that the club would be justified in trading for, especially because we look to have a list under 25 who can play some good footy. We could get a Buddy/Roughead combo but even they will take 3 years to be playing consistent good footy at the best, and most likely closer to 6. The question is who can we get who is cheap but also can be a goal kicker. Tim Boyle is the first who comes to mind but maybe we could go with someone younger with more upside.

Beau Dowler is terrible. Last year when I consistently attended Box Hill games , he was that one player on the field that even the Hawk supporters loved to pay out. His set shots are woeful and his tendency to drift out of games is disgusting and regular. I will be livid if we pursue him.

Luke Jericho gets dropped on and off by Craig because he does not follow team rules and I think there may be some off field issues as well but I am not too sure about that. Some Crows supporters might know about that for sure.

Having said that I am not convinced that we have the young players to bring on for all the up forward places so we may have to go out and get at least 1 player from another team.

my point would be- he has lasted 6 years on the Crows list, which by comparision to the Melbourne list is VASTLY superior in terms of actual playing talent and list management

So i ask you this - if he has lasted this long at the Crows - why wouldn't he make your list for atleast 1 season ? For whats its worth you paid a 3 rd rounder for Meesen who has shown less than Jericho in his first few seasons.....atleast Jericho can play decent 2nds football

but back to reality, the crows can afford to have him as a project player, I don't think Melbourne can

edit - thats not meant to be an insult either - you really need to be concentrating on players for the next 10 years not the next 2 or so (or none at all) and you need a David Neitz player not a Luke Jericho player.

Remaining on a list for a long period without doing much doesn't indicate quality, if anything it indicates poor list management.

Let me run through your logic for you with an example.

The Brisbane Lions, who I'm sure you'll agree have had a far superior list than Adelaide had a player called Aaron Shattock on their list for 5 years. He was even a premiership player.

Now by your logic, because he was able to stay on Brisbane's great list for so long (and he even won a premiership) that somehow gives you as an Adelaide supporter less right to call him a dud because your team is inferior.

He was a dud.

Luke Jericho in my opinion is a dud, and I don't care if he plays for Geelong or Fremantle as that has no relevence to my opinion.

Can I ask if you were a Matthew Smith fan too?

I'd be all up for pursuing one of Boyle/Ryan Murphy. Both have shown they have talent and wouldn't cost that much.

Not Jericho though. He's a medium forward and Bate and Green > Jericho in that role.

have to worry about murphy if he cant break into the freo team with the state they are in cd. Bit like newton with us i suppose, potenial galore but is he committed?

Tim Boyle is definately a person i would look at.

Add another to the list although he could be a bit expensive: Mitchell Clark

I was thinking Chris Dawes from Collingwood, he's a big unit, but I don't know where he is at right now and he wouldn't come cheap.

Mitch Clark can't kick at all, so whilst he'd look good and take a few grabs, I don't think we could train him how to kick it through the big sticks. I think he'll become a CHF or a backmen in time.

Hopefully one of these drafts we take the Lachy Henderson instead of the Cale Morton, and it ends up working for us!

Aaron Shattock wasn't a dud - he just went to a dud team eventually.

Matthew smith, argh I feel for that guy 5 years on a list for nothing, Jericho at least plays the game.

Saying that a player that stays on the list long term doesn't always mean poor list management there is a number of reasons
Jericho for example was out for a year with a should injury, but he was a project player hence the extended term.
Other players stay long term because there is someone in front of them i.e 3rd ruckman maybe on the list for 4-5 years before becoming regular.
