Will this bloke be upgraded to the Hawks senior list this year? Max Baileys season ending injury would surely make this a necessity. I hear he was unlucky last year through injury(Groin etc). Training reports from Todd Viney or sum1 tended to suggest he has excellent mobility and vertical leap, while displaying a good palming technique. Mobility is a need in todays game. If he debuts this weekend then i guess we will find out more about him. It says hes 197 cm, however this measurement would not reflect his current height. Surely would have grown more. Ruckmen from the past have leant towards coming from the rookie list, aka robbie campbell and dean cox.
It would be a significant!!!!!! bonus if this guy could sumhow string a few games together for Box Hill, possibly seniors, and provide another rising ruckmen at the club. Time will tell most definitely. Thoughts?

there's an opening for him, but it only becomes relevant if he starts performing at box hill. it would seem that renouf has jumped him already.
Well Renouf is on our senior list, which means he is first priority.
I recall hearing that Renouf was going to spend a lot of time up forward this year, but with bails out, he may be forced into more ruck work. This would leave McEntee to take the spot renouf would have had up forward

Similar to Little, Luke has answered every challenge put to him at the VFL level. 2007, starting today is the next level of challenge and opportunity. With the stuff that Renuff has already displayed as a no-nonsense defender at 200cm thankyou very much, how healthy have we suddenly become, despite the obvious inexperience besides Rob Campbell. With his athleticism and bulk, he represents healthy options to AC, Frawley and Ischenko, with his future for HAWTHORN.

Well Renouf is on our senior list, which means he is first priority.

selecting the best possible team of available players each week is our first priority.

i definitely wouldn't say that mcentee has "answered every challenge" in the VFL, he spent part of last year in the BH 2's, was injured for part of the year, and rarely (if ever) was the starting ruckman for the team.

we have a structural weakness in the ruck at hawthorn this year, but renouf beat mcentee to be selected in the NAB cup, and he acquitted himself quite well. it's likely that if mcentee wants more than a couple of AFL games in 2007, he's going to have to out-perform renouf and claim position #3 on our ruck pecking order.
if he's selected to play against fremantle tonight, it's an excellent chance for him to put some runs on the board. i hope he plays well, and gives us more options in the ruck division.

McEntee looked taller than Robert Campbell when side by side. RC stands 199cm so hopefully taller.

The only problem I see with McEntee is his body. Its pretty lean, bean pole type. Guys like Dean Cox will kill him around the ground.... but gotta start somewhere.

While I have seen very little of him, Mark Evans said to me last year that he could be as good as any tap ruckman going around. Still learning about the game and will need to do alot more around the ground before he would be considered for senior upgrade. Good sign that he made the squad and must aim for solid form at Box Hill. Would Renouf or McEntee start as first ruck? (assuming Taylor and Campbell playing seniors)

Plenty of talent there. I think they'll see how we go with Campbell and Taylor first off and then if we suffer an injury, he'll get a run.

HH, In my opinion McEntee would be #1 ruck at BH at this stage. He's apparently impressed in the practice games and has come a long way since 06.

Nick Smith and Troy Armstrong make for good comp. at Box Hill too. Dean Crozier did some good stuff against Nthn. Bullants ressies. Kurt Batt is another worth training up.

I'd guess that Nick Smith will be more frequently used as a KP Backman given our lack of options down there at BH. Can't say I know much about Crozier or Batt!
