Luke Tapscott

Height:180cm

Weight: 86kg

Great foot skills. Very powerfully built is capable of bombing a ball 60+ metres. great ball winning ability. Taken with pick 18. Welcome!

Tapscott seems kinda similar to Daniel Rich in the way he seems to go about his footy? Strongly built midfielder with a great leg and aggressiveness - is this accurate?

yer, in his description on the AFL website was touted to go anywhere between picks 8-24. And was compared very much to D.Rich in his footy attributes.

Happy with this pick, in my eyes the boy is a small forward. I am pretty sure he is best mates with Trengove so maybe keeping Jack home was a tiny part of the reason why we drafted Luke. I reckon Luke will be competing with Maric and Wonna for the small forward spots.

They all have a point of difference though which is encourage. Tapscott has power and long kicking like a Bate. Wonna has his brilliance and reads the play as good as anyone. Maric is all silk when up and firing. There might be only room for 2 originally. But if they are all up to it they can all play in the same forward line.

Yeah that is true, now i am getting really excited about this pick :).

Can anyone back me up on Tapcott and Trengove being really good friends. I am pretty sure i heard it, is it true.

Watched the youtube footage, this bloke is gonna be a GUN by the looks of it. Good strong bodied player with a thumping (and accurate) foot. Exciting indeed :thumbsu:

Can go forward if required by the look of him/ his accuracy.

There's a Richmond fan who is absolutely obsessed with this guy and has called SEN three times in the last week to demand the Tigers get rid of Dustin Martin and pick him.

Straight after the draft tonight he was on almost crying that the Tigers missed him. Hillarious.

I would like to see him develop into a Shannon Hurn-esque HB option, even though that isn't where he currently plays.

I just think his footskills could be really dangerous if they were used in that fashion.

Reminds me of Colin Sylvia.
Let's just hope he doesn't take 5 years to get it together.

Walking into a new club with Scully and Trengove though, all the guys we took today should form a strong and committed bond to their footy. You would look pretty stupid being the undisciplined one. I think the 6 we took today are all of good character and work rate. Whilst I understand you have to gamble and bit because the nice guys don't always finish first (ie. everyone would take a potentially erratic Buddy Franklin over the docile Brad Miller), when your coming off consecutive wooden spoons drafting the real determined hard working players is a great idea. There are always plenty of Andrew Lovett's to add at a later date.

So stoked with Tapscott, I wouldve cried if we didnt get him.

Has everything, loves a goal, massive kick, strong body.

He will be killing all these kids in the first yr, I reckon well hear
alot of clubs thinking - why didnt we take Tapscott!

Paul Chapman is as close as I can think of. He is a big unit and very good overhead. Was my favourite player in the Nationals and rapt we got him. Obviously not a key position player but he could be a nightmare to match-up on. He kicks it a mile and will cause match up problems for small defenders. Anywhere from 60 he is dangerous. Him and Col changing out of half forward/mid

That gets me excited.

Although I think he could play the S. Hurn role, he could also be a midfielder/forward which would give us a lot of versatility in our rotations.

In fact, I think our midfield could be an absolute nightmare for other clubs to match up on in the future, as we will have so many different types of players going through that part of the ground.

Exciting times ahead :thumbsu:
