Opinion Lukey D - Where do you stand?

Sure do remember him up forward. I pushed for him all summer to go back there. And watching him play has made it plainly obvious that he’s nowhere near the same player and athlete he was.

Can’t cover the ground. Not dangerous around goals. An awful forward.

The guy is 25yo and youre speaking like he is washed up. Desrves the chance to return to the role where he made his name.

Doesn't help that he is carrying a knee injury and has for most of the year. This is a bit premature

In an amazing (for all!) 2016 he kicked 9.8 with 8 assists.

You might well remember him as a forward, but it wasn't in his (our) best year.

More penetration in one of his left foot kicks in that vid than any of his current kicks atm... something seems amiss.

For me, he's only 25 and has capability to be an A-grader (or at least a good B+) and you shouldn't turf those types unless there's extenuating circumstances (ie Stringer)

I used to believe in the romance of Bulldogs players being one club players.
But then Quinlan, Bisset, Dempsey, Templeton, Round, Stoneham, Sandilands, Dunstan,Edmond, McGuiness, Thorpe etc. finished their careers at other clubs.
If we'd held onto most of them we might not have had to wait 62 years for a flag. Most of those played good football at their second club.

Conversely we've held onto some club heroes too long in their final year or two. It's a hard call.

One of many on our list who whose output has declined markedly since 2016. Out of all the AFL-listed midfielders, he would only be ranked somewhere near in the middle at the moment. Best word I can think of to describe his 2018 output is 'average'.

Kicking has lost 10 m on its penetration in that time, and was never a particularly long kick to start with. So sad to watch him gather and run across our 50 m arc only to launch a 35 m kick that a golfer's 9-iron would have been proud of, which landed at the top of the square.

He still brings the effort, but doesn't seem to be able to deliver the impact any longer.

Can't remember the last time he kicked a goal. No way that opposition teams would consider him a threat inside F50.

His best is A-grade. But we haven't seen that regularly for quite a while.

If the stars align and Tom Boyd is played as a stay at home full forward like he should be, then I would love to have Dahl at his feet crumbing all the dropped marks from Tom, this would be his best position from here on. Leave him as a forward pocket and keep him.

Keep provided we think he can fully recover. If there are doubts, then no.

Love his endeavour, but for it to be productive, he has to be largely injury free.

I've seen him at the Spotty Pub on a Tuesday night (with a few other of our players) too many times since we won a flag. I think he's been drinking his own bathwater.

I'm in the keep camp but we have to see what offers he gets as a RFA and make a decision based on the market.

Young people should not be allowed to socialise!
Rabble rabble rabble! No, in all seriousness they're often a bit rowdy. Clearly one of the clicks within the club (Libba, Biggs being a couple of the others I see). They don't drink, but the seem to be having a lot of fun...

Must be on drugs in that case. I can't imagine rich young athletes having a good time without 'em. I'm very disappointed.

Notice in those videos Minson acting on instruction to knock the ball to the front of every pack... gives the small forwards every bloody chance to do their thing. maybe that's what Dahl needs again

Keep him so long as his asking price is reasonable and the contract is performance based. I am not sure we would get much compo for him our track record has been one of always being stitched up by the AFL eg 1 first rounder Ward vs 2 for Scully.

He looks as though he is being impacted by some sort of injury but the club would obviously be aware of this and also whether it was a long term problem.

Remember what it was like to have a dominant tap ruckman...?

(Hope this comes out OK...)

Some evidence at least that he spent more time forward v. North than any other game this year...
...although it is just a Possession map rather than an Av. Position map.
(The 'hot spot' for the season is very much centered in the middle, with 55% of touches forward.)
Concerns for me are the numbers that go with it;
Just 9 pressure acts, 2 score involvements, 0 scores, 0 assists... And Zero tackles I50.

Honeychurch; 14, 4, 0, 0, 1.
[Hrovat; 22!, 1, 0, 0, 0.]

McLean; 21, 5.
Dunkley; 16, 4, 0, 1, 3.
Schache had 8 pressure acts and 2 tackles I50.
Daniel 19 pressure acts.
Lipinski 15, 6, 1, 0, 0.
If footy was all about pure skills then GWS would have two flags. The reason they don't is because they have no heart.

Luke Dahlhaus is all heart. He is a must keep for mine.
And that phrase is what the AFL does not get.

Loyalty is traded, bought, sold and under-rated. But at the end of the day, it’s what wins premierships.

At 4 years and $2million (do we all agree that’s about what it will take to keep him?), are you in or are you out?
I don't remember the exact number, but weren't you wanting the club to lowball him with roughly 300k for two years a few weeks ago. Surely there's a middle ground here.

You may not want him at 500k for four years, but that's no reason to push him out by making a ridiculously low offer. Instead, he should be offered a contract based on what he is worth to the club.

Dahl bleeds red, white and blue. I think he'd be likely to stay if we had a fair offer in front of him, and I think it'd be unreasonable if the club didn't make him a fair offer.

Yes sir. I think he’s worth $300k to the club.
