just putting it out there, dont shoot me but with all of the money/grants etc heading to the flood ravaged Newbridge, are there measures in place to ensure that the $ will be used for facilities and rebuilding only? Would hate to think that the $ will be used to get players, i dont think that is the purpose of it. Not to mention the facilities werent that great to start with, at least that will be an improvement!

Reckon that with the amount of damage done, they'll struggle to have any money left over at all to spend on players.

It's pretty hard not to pull the trigger jamlil. $1.4 million in damages did i read? The club was at the time replacing the netball courts and looking to upgrade their facilities. Not to mention, the loss of money to the community by not having games out there during the year. Money was raised/donated (that wont cover all costs) for the purpose of rebuilding the communities facilities, its ridiculous to think that this money would be used for any other matter. Football is not the only thing affected here.

that is a disgraceful and moronic post jamlil. lucky the newbridge president and his committee who have been putting in countless hours trying to the get the club funding dont know who u are. the club is lucky to have these people involved an not idiots like you. whats the point buying players if youve got nowhere to play

Its not as disgraceful as you might think. While i dont believe it, i understand why some people might want to ask the question. We all know the committee has been working hard, but i dropped into Kardross this week and they are prob worse off. As for the $1,4 million. Dont tell me you think what they had was worth that. That is a quote to replace what was there (which is more likely worth about $30,000) with new.

power, water, sewerage, fences, ground damage from debri ie gravel, reserve damage, goal posts, light towers, administration building, canteen, clubrooms, scoreboard, tennis courts and building, playground, cricket nets, and reserve closed to public. 30k cover it... Peanut.

think your being a bit harsh on Jamlil. It's a reasonable statement.

You would never hope that what's happened to Newbridge happens to any other club (football or otherwise).

But if you take the emotion out of it, the club is building a new structure that is over and above the previous structure that exisited, which is where the $1.4m comes from.

It's open to debate as to whether or not that's what fundraised money is for i suppose. Replacement of exisiting facilities, yep bloody oath.

In saying that please don't interpret that as me saying the club is tugging at people / business heart strings for money, because i don't think they are.

It's a shocking situation for a club to be in, but please don't get offended if people within the league pose questions about the cost to replace, etc. As long as it's done in the right fashion it should be respected.

Heard Bridgy got touched up my Colbo on the w/e, surprising considering I'd heard that Colbo would most likely struggle.

Also heard that Serp easily accounted for Metro's boys from Macorna.

Any other reports of games?

YCW played Heathcote at Heathcote on Sunday. Was a real good game of pretty tough footy. Heathcote ended up winning by about 40 points in the end. Not sure how many Heathcote had out but YC had about 6 out and 3 go down before half time. Nothing too serious on the injuries though, just being cautious before round one.

Guys, i think you'll find most of the money raised so far will just go towards reconnecting power to the ground and putting in temp shower/toilet facilities plus some portables to use as temp meals area after training.

Wouldn't worry about the money going to the wrong places; as much as the committee would love to see a flag, they'd get much more pleasure out of building fantastic new club rooms which will guarantee Newbridge's survival for many years to come.

Ok i got shot! Its not having a go at anyone but at least it created some debate on a topic that i thought might get some reaction, not as idiotic as you might think spec!!! Take the emotion out of it and deal with it rationally. i was effected by the floods and worked my arse off to try and save our town to, we were fortunate to keep it out and i wouldnt wish it upon my worst enemy. PM me if you like happy to say who i am, not hiding at all. I am also good mates with your coach and we go back a bit, dont see that he would have an issue with this either. Just to get you going a bit more, how much has Mick BOTT cost, very last minute :) good luck to Newbridge and hope they are up and about at home soon:thumbsu:

I knew McMurtrie would be a great pick up by Newbridge, by the looks of things he tore my Inglewood boys a new arseh*le! 7 sausage rolls, a great effort!

Serp were competitive against Bridgey and YCW really took it up to Miti! Looks like it is going to be a closer year!

Bridgewater by 8 goals newbridge by 5 goals, miti by 6 goals and pyramid by 10. What's the go with Kurt ashman not being named?

Ashman is still in WA working, the same as he did last season. Will be playing a handful of games to qualify as he did last season. Same with McLeod.

Bridgy won't have their full strength squad on the ground probably until mid year.
