That was a genuine attempt (and a successful one) to mark the ball.

The fact that this one got a green light from the Tribunal doesn't alter my opinion that he had one intention only, which was to hurt McMahon.

He misjudged the flight of the ball by 0.2 second and was already in mid-air. Sure the knee is not a good idea and he could have jumped without it... but nobody in their right mind could think he went out there to deliberately hurt McMahon and just happened to have the perfect opportunity to do it as the ball came in.

Not a black and white issue, Coasters fans - if you're gonna post here - tone it down lads.

On topic everyone.

Final warning. Cardsville/Locksville next stations.

To the Eagles fans coming over here - it's been a rough week for North, if the roles were reversed we'd all be fuming if North fans came round and started chipping in about club funds or professionalism. Just be smart, stay on topic. I really dislike North but it shouldn't be hard to show a bit of respect on an opposition board.

Thanks for the voice of reason - with Eagles fans it is a matter of "he jests at scars who never felt a wound"

Get off then and don't come back!!

...no? I enjoy reading the thoughts on the Harvey thread, was contributing to this thread to before it slowed up - in a pretty reasonable manner I must add. So....no thanks.

Don't mind Errol. ;)
What you said was perfectly reasonable.

As to the comment made before about Lynch's later mark: It seems like that one was more of an attempt that the former. The first one just looked like nothing but to hurt McMahon. Now I'm nearly certain that's not the case (not that AFL player's don't try and do it, it's just they don't do it that obviously*) but damn, it sure looks bad.

*Judd excluded.

None of us are disputing that the Ziebell penalty wasn't bullshit; I agree, it was garbage.

But two wrongs don't make a right, and I believe the Lynch decision was correct in the end (even though I was positive the MRP wouldn't overturn the decision).

I don't think it's fair that Lynch cops blame for an inconsistent MRP, when really neither Zeibells or Lynch's should have been looked at. It's hardly his fault. He has always been courageous in his career and is hardly a "dog"
I can't think of other instances where he has ever tried to deliberately harm anybody?
In Lynch's defence also regarding "the football gods" getting their revenge, he will stand their and take it, such is football, he plays that way but he also never flinches.

Unlucky for North admittedly with the addition of the Harvey suspension however, the Lynch hate is a little over the top IMO, he's not quick at the best of the times even when he has the ball, they launched at the same time, the knees forward approach is the basic approach for most marking contests and there was also no way out.

North fans' views may be colored by an identical incident a few years ago (08?) where he cleaned up an unsuspecting Jesse Smith.

Nothing courageous about sticking the knee into an opponent that can't see it coming, could have jumped without the knee up.

Has a history of doing it, Was furious at the time that not one single player other then firrito went in to defend scotty mac.

Maybe they didn't defend it because they honestly didn't think there was anything in it? We all know North boys stick up for each other if they think somethings dirty ala the chicken wing incident.

From memory, the only bloke nearby was Firrito and he did take issue with Lynch.

Let's be honest, had anyone else gone in to fly the flag, they'd be given the "3rd man in rule" which hasn't been introduced yet, but hit us with it anyway..(1 week). Reckless and intentional defence of teammate (3 weeks) checking to see if teammate is ok instead of giving the ball straight back to him... (2 weeks), and questioning the umpire for not booking the glove wearing big gangly piece of s%it who looks like a douche and therefore brInging the game into disrepute.. (4 weeks)..
Why would we bother?

Ok now you're just being silly.

True.. Not enough weeks. Maybe a few more? ;)
You know it, sorry or calling him a big piece of doodoo but he will be playing for another side next year anyway if rumors are true! I still think it was reckless personally, and reckless has seen blokes get weeks, just adds more salt given the Harvey-Selwood decision tonight. Looked bad at full speed did the lynch incident. He could at least offer to pay Mcmahons Chiro bills for the next 3 years!

He did look like he was trying to intentionally hurt him, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Got to remember this guy looks like the most clumsy goofiest mother ******* around.

My brother and I were discussing this case after the 1 match penalty was given. We came to the conclusion that the Eagles should challenge, on the basis the MRP did not take in to account the obvious handicap of being Quentin Lynch.

Ahhh the Jack Watts defence.

Ahhh the Jack Watts defence.
aka the Dustin Fletcher defence : elite defender, continually displays unerring judgement and co-ordination in taking/spoiling marks, yet his many transgressions for late/high contact with fist or elbow, and numerous trips by hand or foot, are explained away by the suggestion that he is 'clumsy'.

What a surprise Lynch got off.....
If Firrito did take it up with him I am surprised that he didnt get hauled up before the tribunal as well.
God knows they dont need a legit reason to screw us over

But a biomechanist proved Lynch didn't mean it?
And you know biomechanists are never wrong...after all they proved to us all that Murali didn't chuck, it was just our eyes tricking us.
