Macca is back training

Macca Back Training

ADELAIDE star Andrew McLeod is on the verge of an AFL comeback after training with his teammates for the first time since having corrective knee surgery.

McLeod’s quest to play 350 games was halted - if not ended - last month when he developed swelling in his troublesome knee.

The 33-year-old was booked in for arthroscopic surgery which revealed more damage than initially expected and prompted the club to release a statement saying he would be sidelined indefinitely.

The dual Norm Smith Medallist vowed to return to the field before the end of the season and barring any setbacks appears on track to play this month.

He’s unlikely to play this weekend, but could be a chance to line up against Geelong at AAMI Stadium next Friday night.

I want him to play on so badly.

Forward Pocket, let him flash in and out of games with his magic.

Agreed - but havign seen the impact Jaensch/Henderson/Sloane have had on our forwardline pressure as fit, fast players who can still tackle hard ... I'd be very curious in watching how that pressure might change playing Macca there if he can't execute those skills as easily with his battered body.

Very keen to see it happen - very cautious it doesn't disrupt our pressure abilities given how critical they are to our gameplan (most teams gameplan!)

Yeah he still seems to have good speed, just depends how the body holds up and if he has the hunger for another go. Might have to cryogenically freeze him for the summer, Hans Solo style.

I've been calling for this for two years! However some good points are made re the development of Jaensch and Henderson - both of whom are impressing at the moment. Macca is my favourite player of all time so it's a real tough one for me.

I have such a mixed feelings. Of course I wanna see him out there doing what he does best, but not at the expense of somebody who doesn't deserve to get dropped.

At the same time I don't want it rushed and have him come in underdone and see him struggle.

BUT ALSO without the guarantee he will play on next year I wanna see as much of Bunji as possible. xD

Ahhhh Macca!!!! *shakes fist*

Macca's value to the team has not only been his direct contribution but his indirect.
He always draws the best tagger.
The beauty is that no matter what his form is like the opposition can't afford to let him get loose.
Just by having him on the ground gives us a an opportunity to maximize this advantage.
