Don't put your feet up just yet people. We still need 4 more points from the next 2 games. Sydney are due, and the Doggies are running into some form. Ideally, we need to beat the Swans, and with a slight percentage advantage, we should be able to drop the game against the Doggies, but my a minimal margin, and still keep 3rd spot, if we've rested some stars, otherwise, go full-tilt heading into the finals, and look for win #2 against the Western boys. I think we're the form side of the competition, but can't help but still feel a bit uneasy about the idea of potentially dropping Sunday's game, then going down to the Doggies in Round 22 and missing out on the double chance. For the prophets out there, what do you think is going to happen over the next 15 days?

Should beat the Swannies with points to spare, I think. Pretty confident. Getting enough of a margin to make 3rd a lock? Eh, I don't think it's too likely. Sydney are alright, we're better, but they're no Richmond, I think it's unlikely we'll walk all over them in the same way.

Either way, I think the game against the Dogs will need to be a win, you don't want to roll the dice with percentage gaps when it's so very important we make third.

Unfortunately this means no experiements with the list either, I thought if 3rd was a lock we'd see Rocca brought in just to see how he goes, but can't see it happening with so much on the line.

Well we can't fall out of the 4, we are 10-12 percent ahead of Adelaide and Carlton, so even if we lose our next two, touch wood, we will still finish 4th...

I am confident we will do the job against Sydney, but no so confident against the Doggies...

We should DEFINATELY NOT rest any players before the finals, we cannot afford to lose our momentum...

We are going to finish top 4, that's as good as guaranteed.

We are 8 points and 11 percent ahead of Carlton, who even if they thump Melbourne will only get 4-5%, then have to play Adelaide.

As far as 3rd's concerned, here it is;

If we beat Sydney by;

30 Points, Bulldogs need to beat us by 15.

60 Points, Bulldogs need to beat us by 30 +.

So a big win this week will all but secure 3rd spot.:thumbsu:

I think this 'momentum' thing that happened with the Saints, and the Cats is scaring people, but if we can get a weeks rest into the tired younger bodies, and a couple of older warriors, considering it'll be a 5-6 day break, it would benefit us greatly. Finals is another level, I just can't see us doing what the Saints and Cats did. Either way, we need to ensure we've got that option by tearing the Swans apart on Sunday.

Hows about we just win both H&A games and lock in a QF against the cats?! I like the sound of that.

Geelong are the prize make no mistake, Both us and the Dogs will fight tooth and nail last round to secure the chance to play them.
There will be no restings or the like from us, Geelong are in serious trouble and that invincible aura is gone, i would hope we play Rd 22 like a final because ill declare it Geelong are GONE and both sides will be fighting to the death to ensure a first up appearance against them.

Also resting players in Round 22... then play Geelonhg and rest the week after... means some players worth resting would have played 1 game in nearly a month, to make the granny.

good point

just keep winning pies

one week off after week one of finals is reward enough, dont start getting too clever and resting players and sh1t

What I want to hear someone say on the last Saturday in September is;

Collingwood have won 16 of their last 17 games.

Because if someone says that, it means we have won the flag after beating Sydney, W.Bulldogs, Geelong (final), W.Bulldogs (prelim) and Stkilda (GF).

So those words again;

Collingwood has won 16 of their last 17 games.:thumbsu:

I want to pose a question to matty. What happens if we restrict the swans to a low score (say 50-60) and win by 5 goals, what will that do to our % in regard to dogs game next week.

Its just i feel that the dogs can beat us at the dome and it would be so handy to have strong % up our sleeve.

For what its worth i would love to play the dogs in a prelim at the g!! Cant win big finals without big forwards
