Ryder is talented enough to play as a genuine KPF and is obviously a very good ruck option too. He is looking to move north to be closer to his wife's family but I remember a certain Lion tall who was homesick and apparently bound for Fremantle before a Melbourne based club enticed him south.

Come on Pies, get a bucket, fill it with cash and go knocking on his management's door.

Does he do enough as a KPF to warrant his price tag?

I wonder what his stats look like against time spent there.

Would he want to come to be support for Witts and Grundy? Credit him with more ambition than that.

If he walks out on Essendon then yeah I'd like us to approach him, but I wouldn't trade a 5th round pick for him, I don't want us to give Essendon anything of value at all.

It sounds like he's exclusively going north, so unless the Westpac Centre relocated to FNQ or something then I reckon we'll have trouble attracting him.

It has been well proven that Ryder isn't as effective as a permanent forward than he is a a first choice ruck.

It is also the case when he splits ruck duties 50/50 with Bellchambers. The output from Ryder drops off hence Essendon has been very reluctant to play Ryder and Bellchambers in the same team this season.

Ryder is like Goldstein in that he likes to be rucking for 90% of the game. That is when he plays his best football.

To recruit Ryder to play him as a forward is not a natural fit for our forwardline issues.
There is a possibility that he does better than what Jessie White is giving the team thus far, but it won't be the consistent performance he gives Essendon when he plays in the ruck. And I have a feeling Ryder wants to stay in the ruck and not play permanent forward.

It couldn't hurt. You'll never know if you don't ask.

Like the OP was getting at, Mitch Clark was enticed to come to Melbourne despite apparently wanting to go home to WA. Sometimes the right offer is just too good to pass up.

At least we would pick him up as a delisted free agent because we couldn't we are no chance of getting him. Essendon don't know how to trade.

Do I want him? Yes, for sure but it all depends on the price tag.

He doesn't even fall into that category. He is able to walk away from the last two years of his contract because Essendon breached its' duty of care. This is what his management is pushing.

I thought their clauses from last season were they can walk out and go straight to any club they wish without Essendon having a say.

He would be a great get for the club. I've always rated him as one of the best CHB's going around before that fateful Anzac Day clash when he was thrown into the ruck. Agile, great mark and great closing speed.

I think he would be around the $600K mark. Some on this forum were suggesting we offer Tom Mitchell $800K a year!

new zealand dollars.....although I would offer him zimbabwe dollars first and we might get him for a couple of hundred aussie dollars a year...

Best position is first ruck. Would take games away from Witts and Grundy and then not be as good as either of those guys when we're competing in a couple of years.

As a CHF/relieving ruck, his performance is at a level where I'd rather keep relying Jesse White and save 600k to be honest.

Would want too much money for what he'd offer.
