And on Richmond in '95 wasn't a rampant Richardson, Freezer's last good year and the adition of a rejuvenated Greg Dear from hawthorn instrumental in making the finals (and doing well) ?[/B]

95 was the year Richo basically missed with the knee injury - so played no real part in that success.

Yeah but Richos good early form gave them impetus to carry on into the finals. I will never forget the day at waverley where it rained buckets and there was sheet water on the ground, yet richo was running around like a gazelle

while i understand u all at having doubts about richmond,s ability and past record of getting the 2nd yr blues as far as coaches go
this however is a taotally different situation for the 1st time since god knows when last year we finally got our act together as far as the coaching panel goes as well as the support staff.
we got a coach who not only is well respected in the football community we have a coach who spoke his mind at the interview at where richmond was at at the time and then followed it up when he was appointed coach.
where as in years gone by the coachs were more mindful about keeping there jobs therefore not making the right decisions.
personally i think all the 3 clubs mentioned will make the eight.
cheers!

My reckoning has Richmond making the finals this year. A full strength Richmond side is quite capable.

Interesting to see if Hawthorn can back up & continue to improve.

Sydney will blow a lot of teams away this year & I predict a top 4 for them.

Geelong to fall out - they are very mediocre.

Question is if Richmond & Sydney in the 8 who apart from Geelong to drop out?

Hawthorn?

Who will fall oy of the eight ?

Don't forget Essendon (unlikely) North Geelong Bulldogs and Brisbane are also candidates. They also have serious questions to answer.

If it's as even as last year it could be luck of the draw.

Hawks and Bulldogs draw was marginally harder last year ans The hawks appear to have an easier one this year...

Dees should hope and pray that nothing happens to White, because if it does then thats the end of their finals chances. I think there the only 'top side' going (and they are a top side) so reliant on ONE key player. Most sides would struggle with losing two/three top liners, the Dees are the exception. No White, no Melbourne.

I agree. Without White we will struggle. Even during games when he is taken off the ground for a rest we don't seem to go as well. Our backup ruckman, Simmonds is nearly as good at the centre and hitouts, but no good around the ground.
