Our B&F voting perfectly encapsulates why we performed poorly in 2010. Our coaches have completely lost the plot.

That Thompson didn't win the award despite comfortably being our best, most important and most respected player was ridiculous in itself and makes a complete mockery of the medal that carries Blight's name.

And Tippett's dreadful start to the season where he was dogged by knee tendonitis, sprayed everything in front of the sticks, couldn't buy a goal or impact the games in any way somehow equalled B&F Votes Galore.

We value things that aren't valuable.

All they've got to do is drop a couple of ****s and we're sweet. Not much else in it.

Yup!!! Our coaches are horrible.... Get rid of them all...

Drop Reilly, Stevens and Doughty and go into RD 1 with only 4 players who have played over 100 games (stiffy, thommo, rutten, VB)... We should also get the leg up on other clubs by drafting 12 year olds and playing them...

I really wish you were in charge of our club...

I think a lot of people are still fighting last year's battle.

Goodwin, Edwards, McLeod, Burton, Hentschel, Bock and Griffin are all gone. Rutten, Doughty, Johncock and Stevens are the only thing stopping us from being a team of kids.

We're going to have a very young side in 2011. Our concern is going to be having enough mature bodied players on the park, not too many of them.

You missed one or two.

People should also start to realise that Porplyzia, Vince, van Berlo, Knights and Symes (plus Tambling) are all 25 or will be 25 during the next season and hitting peak age for players of their size. They're not kids anymore.

I believe that he had only 3 good games in the first 11, with form like that it's astonishing he still managed to finish second in the count.
Astonishing that he was still getting tagged in the first 11 rounds too I guess.

When will those silly opposition coaches learn?

You know that two of our coaches are gone don't you? And that's without me being in charge.

Not sure what that has to do with the fact that he had a very slow start to the year. Came good, but Douglas deserved the win.

I'm still surprised at the number of people on BF that think Reilly is still battling for his spot. In 2010 he made the tagging role his own and provided some much needed inside support to Thompson in the trenches. Unless he has a major form reversal then I don't see him being dropped or pushed out for that matter.

His top 5 placing in the B&F was just deserved as well, if he backs that up next year then he will have no worries about his spot.

Really need some onfield leadership from Dmac and Vince this year. The talented youngster tag is no longer good enough.

Vince lost that tag last year, and was a massive disappointment this year (though pure form isn't necessarily the reason for his slide). Mackay has probably lost it now as well I guess, though he's yet to have a consolidation year form wise.

Word was that Doughty wanted to retire, but the club convinced him to stay on and help provide some leadership.

Awesome, so his heart won't be in it, add that to his enormous level of skill and we will have another find performer in the back line.

But I lay blame on Taylor Walker for not chasing hard enough of keeping his defender boundary side.

I don't think they would keep him on if they didn't think his heart was in it. But i do find it disturbing that we need to convince an older player to stay on when he isn't a Mcleod Goodwin or Edwards calibre. He is not an A grader, is there really a need for him? I don't mind him playing on, but convincing him to do so is a bit odd.

I'd rather lose and develop a 20 year old on the half back flank than have a 32 year old with limited skill playing their and still lose. At least the 20 year will get better.

Where has this "word" that he had to be convinced to keep playing come from? Certainly the first I've heard of it.

Now come on......no one ever makes stuff up on BF. So therefore the 'word' must be true. BF says so, good enough for me. :thumbsu:

The last I heard from young Mick Doughty he was eager to go on, and was going to spend the rest of the season working hard to ensure he got a contract offer that the club had made clear was far from certain.
all i remember was the club had offered Doughty another one-year contract and he was happy to accept the offer, so to me that sounds like he wants to play on, but was waiting to see what the club was going to do with him. i.e. if the club didn't offer anything, he probably would've retired.

I heard that in the first part of the season Doughty was battling with his body and his form and thought it would defintely be his last season.

The second half of the year was much better, he played well and was able to train unrestricted and he started thinking he could go on. A bunch of retirements later and the club was thinking the same way, so an easy decision for both parties in the end.

Lot of people - me included, were hoping Macca had one season left in him. Maybe Hentshel as well, thought Dogga might be the one to miss out. Don't mind that he didn't and hope he plays strong like he did at the end of this past season. As we saw with Goody and Macca age creeps up even on the fittest and well prepared will be surprised if he is still in the best 21 at the end of round 22 2011.
