I certainly don't agree with the rest of the comments and I thought they were rather in poor taste. But Suzi's post just stuck out as a little bit more serious. In principle, all those posts in poor taste were open to criticism. But I did find Suzi's post more offensive and more serious than the others. I believe I posed a fair question.

Not at all mate. This is just one of the rare opportunities I am replying to her... I could have gone and had a go at the other posts, but I found hers to be a litte more serious than the rest. Just my thoughts IMO... I'm not really biased against her so I have no problems replying to any posts. I have nothing against Suzi... no qualms here.

You're right, the first one does look worse. I missed that one, but both of those comments are pretty bad. Only one gives a reason from what I can see (or a valid one at that). Although I still think Suzi's comment looks more serious.

Colston did the voting public of Australia a terrible dis-service, he embodied all the negative aspects that we attribute to politicians.

In effect, he proved us correct

We have no respect for politicians, why should we, Colston proved that politicians have no respect for the voting public.

We believe politicians are in the game for their own benefit, rather than to serve the public, Colston proved this assumption correct. Lincoln's Gettysburg statement holds true for all democracies --
"government of the people, by the people, for the people"
Colston either forgot this, or even worse, didn't believe it.

Senators in the main are placed in the upper house by the party that is elected by the voters. The political party wins the seat, it delegates an individual to represent it in that seat.
When that individual then deserts the party that was elected to fill that seat, in all integrity, he/she should vacate that seat for another to be placed as a proxy.

Again Colston proved he had no respect for his electorate, Queensland, in particular, nor the general public of Australia as an entirety.

In my opinion, the man was no better than a common criminal, who is serving many years in jail for major fraud.
Since I believe such people have no place in our community, likewise I view Mal Colston.

I am pleased he is no longer a drain on the public purse
